Saturday Slight

It was a magical day---maybe not on the basketball court, but the rest of our trip to Seattle has fun and even exquisite at times.

Yes, the ZAGS lost.

Yes, it was painful and difficult to watch.

The pain will heal on all fronts.

I said to Bill last night that it was probably easier for us to watch the ZAGS lose on site than it was for our friends watching the game on TV.

We had distractions, many because of the pure beauty and awesome sights we saw after the sun went down in Seattle.

We watched the game in what is touted as the most progressive, responsible and sustainable arena in the world.

The old Key Arena, where we've watched other basketball games, has gone through a complete transformation, and much of it was done with great emphasis on the climate.

The downside of the transformation is that my classmate Janet and I never found each other after planning to meet at halftime of last night's Gonzaga-UConn game.

We texted each other a lot on our individual quests, and, as the game moved into the second half, realized we were both on a wild goose chase.

"Let's abort," Janet finally texted, and we agreed, "Next time."

We haven't seen each other since before the Pandemic, and we're getting old, so we'll have to figure out a "next time," sooner rather than later.

Before the game, Annie took us to a few vistas where Christmas decorations at nearby residences and the after-sunset view of the Olympic Mountains along with boats moving through Puget Sound created a truly magical world.

Our drive to Seattle was pleasant and uneventful with no worries of weather-related problems and knowing that back home, our doggies were getting wonderful, loving attention from Boston and Debbie.

We'll be heading home later this morning after having breakfast with Annie, and we'll be keeping our fingers crossed that the magic comes to Les Rogers Gym this afternoon when Willie's varsity girls take on the Lewiston Bengals at 3 p.m.

GO, Bulldogs, and thanks, Annie and Debbie, for making this wonderful getaway possible.

It's been fun.

Happy Saturday.
