Today is Confirmation Day.
Today is also a 4-Letter Word Day: SNOW.
Lots of it.
It's Confirmation Day because the conditions outside this morning confirmed that it was, indeed, a good idea to board my horses this winter.
Bill agreed as we were out shoveling a path to the shop.
This morning, kids are happy, skiers are happy, snow plowers are happy.
Bill and I are happy because all we have to do is get the car out the driveway so I can get to my eye appointment later this morning.
I think the plows have already been on our road because I saw vehicles passing by with ease.
It's a different story around here and around pretty much every rural place in the county: lots of cleaning out to do in driveways, around buildings and, of course, satellite dishes.
In our case, we can do that work pretty much at our own pace. I
If my horses were still here, that would be a different story. First thing in the morning: a path shoveled to the barn door. Next, comes a path to the barnyard gate, and, with this much snow, a path into the barnyard.
Then, hope the barn door will open, load up the sled, pull it to the barnyard, dump the hay and then take the horses out to eat.
Clean three box stalls.
That part of the equation has been erased, thanks to the boarding. Thank you, Roxane and Kerry.
With the little shoveling I've already done this morning, my body is also saying it was a good idea.
Sadly, at this age, it doesn't take much for body parts to start screaming and hurting.
So, I'm happy, and I'm happy for the folks at Schweitzer. Bill and I predict that we may hear some blasting up there this morning.
I don't know if the big dump we had overnight will be enough to trigger avalanches, but it's possible.
The snow has stopped as I type, but a few days of frigid weather is on its way. Should be some snowy postcard scenes ahead.
Anywho, winter is here, and we've got work to do.
The biggest challenge is to open up enough space that little Foster can find his way to his BIP (Bathroom in the Pasture).
Happy Tuesday.
The photo below of my next door neighbors' home was taken yesterday before last night's generous snowfall.
