Excellent Adventure in Bonners Ferry

I had to document the scene because this is something I haven't seen in a long time.

This should be a draw for Bonners Ferry because I haven't seen anything like this in Sandpoint where I was excited to see 3.15 at the station where we gas up.

Bill and I did not go to Bonners Ferry yesterday in search of cheap gas.  We just knew it was going to be a cruddy afternoon so it was time to get out of the house.

He had the Bonner Book Store and the Sturgeon Station on his list while I suggested we have sandwiches made at the Bread Basket and take them home for dinner.

The Union 76 station on the South Hill had the cheapest gas.  All others were $2.99.9/10.

Bill gassed up at the Sturgeon Station and then went to the Sonic to purchase a Blast.  They're pretty amazing because he refrained from diving in until after we had driven to the Bread Basket, ordered our sandwiches and waited for about ten minutes.

The Blast was still totally in its original form with no apparent melting when we went back to the car.  Must be a little cement in that concoction.

While Bill visited the bookstore in downtown Bonners Ferry, I walked around with my camera.  I've never really walked the main street of Bonners Ferry, so it was fun taking note of what all the downtown district offers.

When we drove into town, we saw our family friend Terri Farmin-Cochran, so we stopped and had a brief visit with her.  Terri has her leather bags, clutch purses and caps at Under the Sun on Main Street.

I walked by and snapped numerous photos of items that caught my fancy on building fronts and in window displays, including the museum, the movie theater and tea shop.

There is some fun stuff in downtown Bonners Ferry. And, Bonners Books is an experience in itself with its hometown, cozy feel.

Of course, Bill had to direct me to one shelf where he had found something rather familiar. Nice to keep company with other area authors, both living and long gone.

Under the Sun is a gift shop/bistro with a myriad of interesting items, many of which, like Terri's, are consigned.

Terri told me about the shop a couple of years ago, but yesterday marked my first visit inside. Since I was just doing a quick walk around town, my stay was brief enough of an experience to want to come back for another visit some day and maybe have lunch.

The menu for Under the Sun can be seen below.

Terri's home-designed and crafted leather items.

High-quality stuff

Our trip to Bonners Ferry turned out to be the perfect substitute for sitting at home and watching it rain.

We accomplished all our goals and then some and both agreed the spontaneous trip had been a wise and fun decision.  Plus, the doggies had a good time too.

Happy Thursday.

Finally, it's Game Day for the ZAGS.

They're back at it tonight in Spokane for what's sure to be a tough contest against the San Francisco Dons.

Tip off is at 6 p.m. on ESPN 2.

GO, ZAGS
