New Cuteness, Crunch Crunch

Who needs anything else when you've got this little darling to look at, love and cuddle?

This is Callie.

She is my sister Laurie's new Aussie pup.

Her personality is every bit as wonderful as her looks.

Laurie brought Callie home yesterday from her original home with Connie and Gary Spurgeon.

She said she was just going there to look with no intentions of bringing anything home.

Who looks at cute puppies and resists the temptation!!!

Also, Debbie rode along with my sisters, and Debbie is a bit of a dog whisperer.  She didn't whisper, though, when she told Laurie to take the pup home.

By the time they arrived home, Callie had been named, and I drove over to their house and did a little puppy loving.

It will be fun at the sisters' home because in the next month or so, Barbara will have a new heeler pup to play with Callie and Kenny and Joe and the cats.

For now, Laurie is about as happy and satisfied as I've seen her in a long time.

And, of course, the rest of us are thrilled because, like grandparents, we can go look and cuddle and then go home.

Welcome to the extended family, Miss Callie.

The photo above was taken when I was snow shoeing in the woods yesterday.

The photo below was taken this morning when I took the dogs out for their first time.

This morning we are living in a world of "crunch, crunch, crunch" as frozen rain drops from the sky and leaves an icy coating on the snow.

A weatherman the other day compared the conditions to an ice cream sundae with hot chocolate that turns hard when it hits the ice cream.

You have to eat the chocolate layer in chunks.

This morning each step taken broke open the layer and left it in chunks just like the aforementioned sundae.

Virtually every item the rain can reach is coated.  The cars are shiny like the snow.

I used a trekking pole for walking on my two trips outside.  It was a good decision because a couple of times, even being extremely careful, my feet slid. Nice to have that pole for support in such situations.

And, for the Yak Track folks, they aren't that helpful.

The roads started getting treacherous last night.  While returning from Spokane where they had watched the ZAGS women win, Bill and Willie sat on HWY 95 for at least half an hour because of an accident.

A Facebook poster commented this morning that he was tired of hearing sirens.

So, to all locals who haven't yet gone outside, be careful and take your time.

We're supposed to have freezing rain for a while and then clear off later in the week.

That will be nice, and we'll be that much closer to spring!

Happy Sunday.

I expanded my snow-shoeing territory yesterday and packed a trail through the south woods.

Who knows if I'll get to use it again. It was fun while it lasted.

Miss Bridie has decided lately that lying on the bricks next to the wood stove is kind of nice.
