Just This and That

First off this morning:  Happy Anniversary to my brother Mike and his wife Mary.

Their wedding on this day in 1967 at the Thompson home in Wrenco inspired 57 years of an amazing marriage for them and 57 great years of the "outlaw regime."

I often refer to Mary's side of the Brown-Thompson family as the "outlaws," cuz Mary's the only in-law.

BTW:  the "outlaws" are both family and good friends.

Mike and Mary are celebrating their anniversary this week in Mexico, which is a far cry from that snowy February day in North Idaho when they said, "I do."

Hope you two are having a great day.

We're supposed to have a great day today---in comparison to those we've had.  They said on TV last night that it should be dry, even though I've already felt raindrops twice this morning.

There is some blue sky, so hoping for the best.

Before a steady afternoon and evening rain began yesterday, I was able to take the dogs to the hay field, which is about half snow and half bare land.

Later, they spent most of the day in the house.

There's something about early spring deposits on the ground that adds an extra odor to the already "wet-dog" smell.

Plus, toweling off dogs several times a day gets old.

I was able to clean out a major flower bed yesterday with my friend Bridie, who likes to add to the challenge by bedding down right where I want to rake.

But it's nice having a loyal friend nearby.

Yesterday, while Bridie was with me, Bill took Foster to town with him.

Usually both dogs go together, so when Bridie came into the house and realized Foster was gone, she wasted no time doing a Goldilocks on Foster.

She slept in his bed, even though it's much too short for her big body.

Foster didn't seem to mind when she was still sleeping there when he arrived home.

In other news, our friend Vince posted an exciting announcement this morning.  We met Vince the first time we stayed at the Rose Garden in Kenmare, Ireland.

We eventually learned that he served as both handyman and chef for the facility which he and his wife Mary leased. His desserts were to die for.

On each trip to Ireland, we would see Vince and Mary at The Rose Garden in the mornings and visiting with friends in the back portion of PF McCarthy's pub and restaurant in the evenings.

So, to read his announcement this morning was exciting news for us.

We love Vince and Mary, and we love PF McCarthy's, especially the steak and potato cakes.

Kinda makes us want to hurry up and get back over there.

From Vince:

After a year of not doing a whole lot, I'm now back in a kitchen.

Alan and Meg Bevan have bravely taken on the running of PF McCarthy's, considering so many small businesses are being forced to close, and have let me loose at the cooker.

We still have to iron out a few things but it went well for the first weekend.

Yum! Yum!

💚💙💜💗💙

For the geocachers and anyone who knows our daughter Annie, here's a chance to listen to her speak about geocaching and the funky Fremont neighborhood in Seattle where she works.

And, for anyone who loves Sandpoint, she says some nice stuff too.

The guys talk a bit before introducing Annie, so be patient.

Happy Tuesday.
