Lovely Day in the Neighborhoods

I'm glad that I have most of my flower beds mucked out and ready for spring.

We have another helping of winter coming.

⛄⛄⛄⛄⛄⛄

from Simon's weather forecast:

Tuesday night…Cloudy with snow developing, possibly heavy at times after midnight. Accumulations of 3 to 6 inches possible below 4000 feet with 4 to 8 inches possible above 4000 feet.

Not as cold with lows in the 20s with mid teens around 6000 feet. South to southwest winds 5 to 10 mph with ridge top winds southwest 15 to 30 mph.

Areas of blowing and drifting snow possible across higher elevations.

Bill said earlier that we'd better enjoy today. It's a pretty morning, and a great one, as it is any time I don't have to towel off dogs every time they go outside.

This morning Bridie and I had a great time out in the hay field, where there's just a few large patches of snow left.

I even did a little fencing this morning, pulling up a couple of strands of wire that had come loose and had been buried under grass.

I'll go back later and to stretch them and re-attach them to the posts.

I also pulled a large tamarack branch which had fallen and landed on fence wire on the north side of the hay field.

Doing this kind of stuff in preparation for spring and summer is unheard of. Simply walking through the hay field in February is huge enough.

Yesterday, while Dale and I visited as he held his wandering horse Jack, he suggested that this winter has been one of the easiest we've had that he could remember.

To which I suggested that we probably won't see another like it in our lifetimes.  He IS much younger than I, so his chances of such a phenomenon are a little better than mine.

Yesterday afternoon, after I had finished cleaning two more flower beds and hauling away the riffraff, the dogs and I took a trip around Selle and up the Gold Creek Road.

Lots of creatures were out and about, and the open areas with high water flowing through amber grass were pretty.

Such days are exhilarating for the human psyche, and I can't help but think that the other members of the animal kingdom are feeling the endorphins also.

Twas a good sampling of what's ahead soon, but first we must dealing with another main course of winter.

Ugh!

Happy Tuesday.

Every neighborhood needs a "Posted" tree.
