Saturday Slight

These are some of the folks from the Sandpoint High Class of 1974.

They have gathered in Sandpoint for their 50th-year reunion this weekend.

Bill and I dropped in at the Friday get-together at MickDuff's beer hall.

A week or two after this class graduated, English teacher/yearbook and drill team adviser Miss Brown became Mrs. Love.

A week or so after our June wedding, many of us met at City Beach for yearbook distribution.

January floods around Bonner County had shut down the schools for several days, so we were behind on producing the Monticola yearbook.

Hence, the late distribution.

I don't know who had more fun at the reunion---Bill or me.

In an unusual twist, I actually had to figuratively drag him away from the gathering because, over 50 years, a few of the folks among the group had gotten to know Bill professionally as one of the area foresters.

So, he was in his element, talking about trees and logging, etc.

As for me, I was pretty pleased to be able to match names with most faces, some of whom I hadn't seen for decades and others who live just down the road.

It's always neat to spend some time and catch up on the individual journeys these students have taken, especially after 50 years.

Congratulations, Class of '74 on your individual achievements and on your fun reunion.

Thanks for the invitation.

Last night's class reunion gathering was enhanced by the presence this little Border Collie/Aussie beauty.

Its parents were not members of the Class of 1974 but didn't mind enjoying some time watching the action.
