I took the advice from my blog post yesterday and went for several walks with the dogs.
The best one
involved drop-dead beauty, peace and mostly quiet (the almost silent hum of boat motors on the lake) and lots of odds and ends to enjoy along the shoreline of Lake Pend Oreille.
Farragut State Park offers a variety of opportunities to enjoy the lake's south end. Farragut is also where Bill and I first met 51 years ago.
And, one of my cover stories for Sandpoint Magazine, involved the story of Farragut.
So, the place has deep meaning for both Bill and me.
Yesterday, we saw sporadic activity around the park and on the lake---just enough to remind us of its many opportunities for boating, swimming, biking, hiking, horseback riding, camping, etc.
Happily, even the activity was hardly noticeable in comparison to the sheer beauty created by the sun, the water, the mountains (some snow-capped) and trees on a crisp and clear November afternoon.
While dogs enjoyed their sniffing, I watched and took advantage of photo opportunities while Bill occasionally pulled out his binoculars.
Sometimes mountain goats can be seen on the mountains on the east side of Buttonhook Bay.
The trip to the park and time spent enjoying its offerings provided the perfect therapy for lifting my spirits.
That's usually the benefit of immersing ourselves in natural beauty.
Pretty much any place on Lake Pend Oreille will definitely enhance the endorphins.
Thursday Throwbacks . . . .
This little lady is growing up to become a star on the basketball court. Brecken played in games all over the United States this past summer.
As a sophomore, she'll be playing her second year on Willie's girls team this year.
Tryouts were held this week, and Willie says he has a nice bunch of players on his team this year.
The Bulldogs' opener is scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 16 at Les Rogers Gym at 7 p.m.
Below: not quite a Thursday Throwback because I took this photo Sunday night at the Hydra. Still, it's a throwback to think I had Danielle on the left and Amanda on the right in the late 1990s while teaching in Portable 2.
My sisters and Willie have taught at least one of their daughters in the middle.
Tasty and poignant reminders of my first trip to Ireland.

Below: lots of great memories from the days of the annual Draft and Mule shows.
