Twas a last-minute plan, but we pulled it off in spite of sloppy snowy weather.
Annie, Bill and I and the doggies drove to Canada yesterday.
Pretty much the whole way, the drive was sloppy but doable.
And, when we reached the walking trails south of Cranbrook, we even enjoyed dry conditions over new snow.
The sun tried its darndest to come out.
Our ultimate goal was to have lunch at Brixx Brew House in Cranbrook, same place where Bill had his foot-long hotdog with all the works a month ago.
Bill opted for the same this time, while Annie ordered a farmer's hamburger, loaded with burger, pulled pork and a fried egg.
I took it easy with a ham and cheese sandwich in hopes that my stomach would behave.
That didn't happen, but, fortunately, the subsequent gut ache from eating far too much good holiday stuff is history now.
Today is Annie's last full day in Idaho for this visit. She'll be going to visit with a friend later this morning and probably cousin Laura after that.
Bill will be back at work helping complete forest tax plans at Inland Forest Management.
I'll spend some time on my assignment from Annie, the ultimate organizer. That's to start sifting out stuff I want to keep and unneeded stuff that has been lying around in piles here in the room where I do my computer stuff for far too many years.
Annie brought home some clear plastic tubs and shelving for me to organize the stuff I'm going to keep AND so I can see where it's located.
It will be good.
I'm not a full-fledged hoarder but throwing away stuff that I might use some day is extremely difficult for me---I'm a Cancer, and Cancers like to keep things.
I am getting better about casting stuff away because I do know that the shelf life for things I need to keep and may use some day is gradually getting shorter.
So, those old Newsweek magazines and piles of third class mail that should have been thrown away ten years ago will finally get to go on their final trip to the transfer station.
And, the clothes!
There are different kinds of clothes that inhabit this house.
For example, there are jeans that some day I may be able zip shut again.
The closets have tops that look nice but every time I put them on, they look horrible, especially those blouses with sleeves too short to hide the flab on my upper arms.
Also, I will be first in line to throw away or thrift out some skirts and dresses.
Every time I think of having to wear a dress or skirt to school every single day through my junior year of college, I think that I have surely gone far beyond the limit of ladylike necessity.
I have announced to family members and now to readers that I never intend to wear a dress again. That should be an easy goal to meet.
Anyway, lots of stuff in boxes to sort through and disperse into designated piles.
It could be a busy but quiet day around here, and from the looks of the blue sky behind Schweitzer, it will be nice to spend some time outside.
Should be a good and productive day.
Happy Friday.
As it should at the Canadian Border!
