We had a couple of small groups of deer come through our yard yesterday afternoon, almost at the same time.
First, a group of five showed up south of the house, sniffing around and then taking to the road where they headed north.
About a minute after their departure, I noticed Bridie eyeing something toward the barn.
Looking out the sliding glass door, I saw two more deer in the lawn west of the barn.
Grabbing my camera and quietly going out the north door, I walked close enough to see that this was the group of three which we commonly see.
A few minutes later, the trio made their way to the lawn south of the house. They seemed in no hurry to leave and soon I saw why.
Mom apparently had told the kids to go about their business while she grabbed some treats at the bird feeder.
Bill and I are wondering where they get their water these days with most of the ground water frozen.
It could be that these deer will actually stay all winter and never have to make their spring trek back to the Selle Valley.
They are here.
They are deer.
And, they are always watching.
Plus, we enjoy watching them.
I was standing close to this area in the photo above when I turned off my flashlight for the day and walked the rest of the way through the hay field and down the lane back to the house.
It's such a nice and invigorating feeling having the morning light returning.
Could be that by the weekend I may not need the flashlight for each morning's second walk with Bridie.
Dark Hedges: one of our favorite places in Northern Ireland.
So sad to learn about this weekend storm damage of a magical scene.
The stand of beech trees, planted in the 18th Century, has served as a filming location for the series "Game of Thrones."
Hard to imagine the loss of those trees and their beauty which have stood so long.
The Dark Hedges was battered by Storm Éowyn over the weekend, with another four trees ripped out of the ground
Right now, the seed packets are surrounding a vase of flowers on the kitchen island.
Soon, I'll open some and begin this year's garden.
Tomatoes are usually first. And, I'll probably start some lettuce.
Nice to have the light and the imminent hope of another year of gardening.
Another GAME DAY for area Bulldogs.
Willie's varsity girls squad travels to Coeur d'Alene to take on the Lake City Timberwolves.
Wishing them lots of luck.
GO, Bulldogs!

Now, it's time for the ZAGS to return the favor in tonight's game at McArthey Athletic Complex starting at 8 p.m.
The game will be telecast on ESPN2.
GO, ZAGS!!!!!
