May the Fourth

It's a busy weekend.

Have you noticed or have you had time?

So many spring events kicking off and so many places to go.

I took in a few activities before planting myself in front of the TV for the Derby yesterday.

Yes, a bit sad that Journalism did not win but all the other programming was great as usual.

About 9 a.m., I told Bill it would probably be a while before the cyclists came by so I'd mow a little lawn before going down the road to the "start" sign.

One swath of mowing took me to the end of the driveway where I saw cyclists aplenty rounding the corner off from Selle Road and heading north.

Dang, I said, knowing that my big camera was on the car seat, too far away to run and get it.

So, I took pictures and then took some more pictures and even more as groups of cyclists zipped by.

In a group where one entrant kept passing others, a guy behind yelled, "He's fast."

Yes, he was.

It looked like a very successful race with so many entrants.

Later, I drove to town to check out the Farmer's Market.  Bill told me that he always parks at the Presbyterian Church on busy downtown weekends.

So, that's what I did, and after getting out of my car, I saw Pastor Andy and another friend Judy working on a lawn project.

They were measuring and designing a labyrinth on the lawn for World Labyrinth Day.

Many “Walk as One at 1” local time to create a rolling wave of peaceful energy passing from one time zone to the next, and there are additional ways to participate.

While visiting with Andy and Judy, I saw some other friends---yes, you Ann---on their way to The Corner Book Store which is going out of business.

Owner Jim was telling some customers that his kids want him to move closer to them.

He's been a good friend and a wonderful supporter of my books.  I wish him well.

Then, it was on to the Farmers' Market where on any given Saturday there's a potpourri of crafts, fresh food, preserves, garden starts and peeps, young and old.

And, the dogs.  They come in all sizes and often have the same expressions as little kids who think their moms spend too much time talking at the grocery store.

Along with commerce, live music, kids' activities one can always expect those rich moments of visiting. So, the dogs must wait.

Sometimes there are also some interesting characters in creative dress, milling about. I can't remember if it was Adorra or Amorra who explained herself to me with a highly personal bit of information regarding a past encounter we had experienced at her office window.

We'll keep that amongst ourselves!  Whatever her name, she sure was cute.

As usual, the market had all the right ingredients for a spring out-and-about Saturday.

I felt fulfilled as I drove home and thought there's nothing quite like the first weekend of May.

This one has not disappointed.

Happy Sunday and May the Fourth be with you.

  Enjoy the photos.

Pastor Andy and Judy Moon Labrie. Andy Kennaly is retiring later this month from his role at Sandpoint's First Presbyterian Church.

Anna on the right was one of my Ponderettes when I advised the drill team at Sandpoint High School.

She was helping one of her Abby, one of her daughters,  sell her yummy-looking baked goods.
