Thursday This, That; TBT

Now we know why all the paving equipment and dump trucks and flaggers and pilot cars showed up in our neighborhood yesterday.

By the end of the day, the crews had paved half of South Center Valley Road, half of a portion of Center Valley Road and half of a portion of North Center Valley Road.

We are presuming that they will start the project today at the other end where North Center Valley Road meets Colburn-Culver Road and more than likely complete the project working back this way.

Why all this activity????

There's a mall reopening in Colburn at the Dump/Transfer Station.

No wonder!

Read the story in the link above, and all the pieces will fall into line.

Poppy wanted the mall where people drop stuff off and where other people take that stuff for free.

Hail to the county for honoring Poppy's request and for the return of one of the most popular stores in the county.

And, more kudos to the county for this paving project, which means, as Bill said this morning, the entire back road to the dump will be paved.

It sounds like Center Valley Road will receive some additional paving soon.  I talked to a lady involved with some of the logistics last night.  She said if there's dirt, we'll pave it.

So, no clear plans on when, but I'm sure the folks taking the back road to the dump to dump off some stuff and maybe do a little shopping will be thrilled.

My only request, now that the road is paved:  slow down.  We like to see that all the stuff you are taking to the dump makes it all the way to the dump and not in our ditches.

Plus, these are still country roads and it will be nice for them to remain safe for pedestrians, joggers, cyclists horseback riders, etc.

In other news I saw that Journalism is once again competing in The Preakness this Saturday.  Bill told me this morning that the Kentucky Derby winner will not be running again.

So, no Triple Crown this year and all the more reason to pull for Journalism again----both on the track and in the media!

We had a whopper of a rain storm last night, so I'm thinking we don't need to be nervous for a while about the moisture.

Everything is so clean and fresh this morning.  I loved walking around and inhaling the air and marveling at how beautiful everything looks today.

And, with that in mind, some good news from down Selle Road and the Selle Valley Creamery.

This message is from Facebook.

It's time to shine, friends.

We're launching our food trailer.
