Sunday and a Summer Lull

The wildflower blend in the north yard is starting to bloom, and talk about pretty. I'm loving the mid-summer blaze of new and bright colors.

It's a pleasant Sunday morning and maybe even, with luck, a relatively quiet day.

I'm looking at another week with a schedule which is filling up fast with places to go, people to see---all good.

Still, it will be nice to have a brief lull in the summer activity.  I'll mow some lawn, pick some berries and find some time to just hang out and maybe even be lazy.

Ahhh!

A dozen new jars of berry (huckleberry, raspberry and blueberry combo) jelly came from this effort yesterday.

Jelly-making can be time consuming and sometimes frustrating, but the results are always worth the time spent.

For a while yesterday, I thought the jelly would not set up, but when suddenly it did, I was a happy jelly maker.

Bill offered his stamp of approval after having some with his toast this morning.

I noticed this morning that some a few green beans are ready to pick, so life in the garden and berry patches is going to get busy.

We spent some time at a gathering in Wrenco, honoring the memory of Rose Marie Thompson yesterday afternoon.

It turned out that, among the guests, three members of the Sandpoint High Class of 1965 were there.

So, Gary, Chris (Rose Marie's brother-in-law) and I enjoyed a mini reunion of sorts.

Lots of reminiscing about classmates, teachers and happenings from 60-plus years ago, along with some good laughs.

That's what Rose Marie would have wanted, we were told.
