Sunday Sounds and Scenes

Postanova myru v Ukrayini

We picked up this little darling in Ellensburg almost four years ago. Her former owner had brought her to Ellensburg from her birthplace in Concrete, Wash.

She was about 13 weeks old at the time and a big puppy.

We named her "Bridie," after the manager of The Bar in the Aran Islands off the coast of Ireland.

She is one of the lights of our lives, and she is 4 years old today.

Bridie was literally "out the door" and working this morning with the big flock of turkeys who were emphatically occupying the yard and the barnyard.

CB tried to herd them in the barnyard, but they all scattered.

It took Bridie some time, but she eventually persuaded every last bird to leave the premises.

So, as she begins her fifth year of life, she is doing actual Border Collie work, but most importantly, she is a very good dog, whom we love very much.

Happy Birthday, Bridie.

Every so often a group of musicians plays three hours' worth of Celtic sounds at Pour Authority in downtown Sandpoint.

The group is made up of some local notables, many of whom are retired.

There's not a lot of fanfare.  They simply team up to do what they truly love---play music.

Yesterday was the second time Bill and I have listened to the group at the Pour Authority, and we know we'll go back again.

It takes no time for the music to instill a mood and an escape from what goes on outside the bar. Of course, Bill and I went on a few mind travels to Ireland while sipping on our beer.

It will be good for Sunday afternoons in the winter time, Bill said as we were driving away.

Yes, it will.

On both visits, besides the music, we've enjoyed talking with some fun folks who are patronizing the establishment and enjoying the music.

Thanks to Ed and Karen and Dave and Susan and the others in the group who obviously enjoy sharing their talents.

Twas inspiring and and very entertaining.

QZ, at times, has been known to be much taller than she appears in this photo.  If you have looked upward sometimes at community events, you've seen a lady on stilts.

That's QZ.

She's always fun.

Yesterday she was having fun with friends playing cards and sticking with the rhythm of the band.

Karen and Ed Robinson love their music almost as much as they love their Lady Bug.

Lady Bug is a Border Collie, and Lady Bug has been competing in some trials this year and doing quite well.

Unlike Gray, pictured below, Lady Bug did not come to the Pour Authority yesterday.

I really enjoyed visiting with Becky at Pour Authority yesterday.  She was a student in my graphic arts class.

After raising her kids, Becky went off to school to learn baking.

She has run the bakery at Winter Ridge Natural Foods and now does a lot of work on her own.

The photo on her phone was a cake she baked and decorated yesterday morning.

I'm putting a note on my bucket list to sample some of Becky's baking some day.

When I visited with Becky, the baker, yesterday, she was sitting beside Becky, the physical therapist at Valley Vista.

She's originally from Ohio.

Gray, the Heeler with a little Pit Bull mixed in, was a popular patron at Pour Authority yesterday.

In addition, to serving Gray her drinks (that would be a bowl of water), the bartender brought her some biscuits.

She was a good dog throughout her stay at the bar.
