Twas a lively crowd last night at Powder Hound Pizza as basketball players, coaches, families and fans gathered for a fun meal, to support the boys and girls teams and to enjoy visiting.
With all proceeds over a three-hour period going to the Bulldog cage squads, the constant flow of customers indicated a success.
Plus, the players offered a raffle where whoever won would get half of the money earned.
Bill and I thoroughly enjoyed ourselves, getting reacquainted with the girls team, whom Willie coached for eight years and better acquainted with the boys, which is his new gig this year.
The kids, with their generous smiles, are fun and friendly. Plus, they're pretty talented too.
Good luck, Bulldogs, as you embark on another season.
I've followed sweet Brecken throughout her high school basketball career. Her dad was a student in the last-ever English class I taught at Sandpoint High.
I promised both her and Coach Madi that we would attend some girls' games this year, along with the boys.
Coach Schoening (girls) and Coach Love (boys).
Both, who have worked together for a few years, are in their first year of coaching their respective teams.
As a public educator, I am posting the link to the letter below for two reasons: I am very proud of the former student who wrote it, and I passionately agree with the premise.
What makes us so afraid to being aware of the dark chapters of our country's history?
It's like a doctor sugar-coating a patient's dire diagnosis. With knowledge of the good, the bad and the ugly, the patient can proceed accordingly, just as we should has a nation.
I learned a long time ago, as an educator and along my own life journey, that we often gain vital awareness from our bad experiences.
Thank you, Kari, for your voice of reason.
We have a visitor coming this morning, so I'd better get on with my morning activities.
After some much-needed moisture, it looks like we are back to some pleasant fall days.
Happy Thursday. Enjoy the day and the TBT photos below.
Thursday Throwbacks: miscellany of past times from the photo albums. Enjoy.
