Thursday This, That; TBT

Not too many scenes like this left for the year 2025.

Soon, until the snow flies, we'll be entering the blah blah period where there's not a lot of color and not too many great photos to capture.

It's been an amazing fall, and I hate to see it end.

But, we continue to move on with the happenings of winter, and, at this age, most of us hope that we're still around next year to behold the colors and then watch the leaves fall.

Funny how at this age, we've added a new dimension to our thinking, i.e.,  cars, trips, lawnmowers, pets, clothes, civic participation---will any or all be our last?

All the more reason to approach each new day with gusto and a firm intent to do pretty much what we want to do with our time.

Three great ladies in this community passed away this week, so that serves as a constant reminder not to waste our allotted time and to make the most of it.

Many in this community knew and admired Marilla Schoonover, Marilyn Robertson and Alice Nelson.

They all made the most of their respective days with smiles, enthusiasm and good works.

May they all rest in peace and may their lives serve as examples for the rest of us to continue making the most of ours.

Thursday Throwbacks . . . .many of today's photos came from my travels over the years.  Hope you enjoy.

Annie, Willie and Bill on an outing near Seattle when we attended an NCAA tournament a few years ago.

Above:  a beauty at the Scottsdale Arabian Show.

Below:  some ballerinas were posing for a photo shoot near Port Townsend, Wash.  I joined in with my camera.

Our friend Shiraz who has taken family members to his favorite fishing stream near Ephrata.

These fun ladies were Rui Hachimura fans.  We met them AND RUI after a ZAGS game in San Diego.

And, now a word from our sponsor, a reminder that our local food bank appreciates all donations, especially during these uncertain times.

Making an Impact, One Family at a Time 💙

Today, our team was able to assist nearly 100 families in just three hours, that’s one family every two minutes. With the holidays approaching and uncertainties many families are feeling anxious and unsure where their next meal will come from.

Thanks to the incredible support of our local businesses, including Action Point, we’re ensuring that our neighbors have food on their tables and hope in their hearts.

We’re deeply grateful to everyone who continues to stand with us in supporting families during these challenging times. Together, we’re making a difference.

Meanwhile at St. Stephens Green in Dublin . . .

It was neat to see Triple Crown winning jockey Victor Espinoza while attending the races at Santa Anita.

Below: this was actually in Selle at a Selle Club meeting, but since this is the week of Veteran's Day, it seemed appropriate.

Above, on the way to Whitefish, Mont., where I used to attend weekend meetings for a foundation.

Below:  Lake Union in Seattle.

Above:  a fair in New Zealand.

Below:  Also, New Zealand at a "Lord of the Rings" site. I was traveling with my daughter Annie, who's coming home for the weekend today.

Oh, and notice that I took along both The River Journal and Sandpoint Magazine.  My friend Trish, who has edited both, must have been proud.  And, it was the 40th year for Schweitzer, so it was 2003.

AND, guess what?  Sandpoint Magazine's 35th  year of publishing will be celebrated when the winter edition hits the streets tomorrow.

And, I'm pretty excited about my contribution to the new issue. It's about a local who's working in a big-time arena.
