A Seattle album: we left yesterday morning, drove through a lot of smoke and some almost crystal clear areas and arrived in Seattle in the late afternoon.
After their respective work days, Annie and Sam met us at the hotel, and we drove to the Ballard locks. Twas just in time for the locks to open and for boats to pass through on their way to the ocean.
We also saw seals and salmon----some salmon in the water around the locks, others in a viewing room as they were making it on their way to spawn.
Afterward, we went to dinner and had a nice visit before returning to the hotel. Today is action packed with a ride on the light rail, a walk through the restored Public Market area, a ferry ride to Bainbridge Island and back.
Then, we'll go to T Mobile Park where the Seattle Mariners will be celebrating 50 years of existence as a Major League baseball team.
Past Mariners will be on hand for a special program prior to the match-off between the Mariners and the Tampa Bay Rays. I'm wearing a Ken Griffey, Jr. shirt today.
Thanks to the folks at the pet lodge and to our friends, the Schmidt's who are watching the place and taking care of the horses.
Speaking of horses, my sister Laurie is gearing up for her big day (actually evening) at the Canadian National Arabian Show in Branson, Manitoba.
It was not an easy trip for Laurie, Kevin and Siri, but after a vet visit, a new tire purchase and working through a paperwork glitch at the border, they arrived well into the early morning yesterday and hopefully are rested up for today's competition.
We're sending vibes from Seattle and wishing Laurie and Siri the best of luck tonight and maybe a championship or two.
