Yup, the pumpkins have a coating this morning. I plucked them from their vines yesterday and arranged them next to the house with what's left over of the petunias.
They're still mostly green, but with the bite in the air we had overnight, I'm figuring yellow pumpkins by the weekend.
The arrangement includes various sizes and fairly decent shapes. They'll stay out there until after the goblins come, and then they'll go to the storage shed where I'll cut 'em up, clean 'em out and start the process leading up to this year's heavenly pumpkin bread.
The garden harvest has officially ended. I found a few more nice potatoes yesterday in the manure pile beneath the extensive network of pumpkin vines.
I also pulled out the corn stalks and stacked them in a pile behind the barn. If anyone has corn stalks to get rid of, let me know.
I'll come and pick them up. My horses love them as treats when I bring them up from pasture each night.

Yesterday I also started a new garden project---scraping sod from an area to complete a rectangle in the west garden. Once that's done and looking decent, I'll make plans for a real fence to go around that plot.
Deer enjoyed far too much of our garden this year, and it bums me to have to buy prepared salad greens from the store throughout gardening months. So, it's time to go on the defensive---or would that be de-fence?
~~~~~Bill is downstairs getting ready to head north with his buddy TJ and TJ's canine buddy Hildy. Today is opening day for pheasant hunting.
When Bill turns down an offer to go to the Idaho football game where this year's Homecoming pits the Vandals against Louisiana Tech, you know where pheasant hunting ranks on his list of "to do's."
Willie asked his dad the other night if he wanted to accompany him to Moscow today. He was met with an instant, "No----it's opening day for pheasants."
So, Willie will go solo to report on the game, and Bill will head the opposite direction with TJ.
Debbie is heading south today also to attend and help out with a grand opening of a new Girl Scout Lodge on Lake Coeur d'Alene.
I'm hoping to spend some time either on the back of a horse or sitting/walking behind a horse. Too nice a day coming up---amidst some bad ones---to waste.
~~~~As for my blog design, I've continued researching my options, and it's looking more and more like I got ensnared when I investigated the new design options.
My old blog set-up no longer offers design options. The button that used to appear on my "dashboard---that's where I do all composing, editing and tweaking---the button has disappeared and has been replaced by "template."
So, you're looking at bare-bones classic blog layout, no longer allowing options to dress up the photos with borders or change colors.
Plus, when I reverted back to the original, the type has weird spacing, i.e., I either can have huge spaces between paragraphs or very little space.
The latter tends to distract from readability, while the former looks just plain lame.
Unless I receive an answer to my query from that big, vast kingdom called Blogosphere hierarchy, telling me how to get back to normal, I may make the change to the new format---complete with explanations of how to navigate it---tomorrow or Monday.
Again, thanks for your patience.
Here's wishing everyone a Happy Saturday. Enjoy your day.
