My brother Jim certainly knows the meaning of "slight detour."
In addition to providing me the name for my blog a few years back, Jim takes a few slight detours of his own.
In this top photo he's hanging on to some air currents above Yosemite National Park at Glacier Point. Jim and some of his hang-gliding buddies spent some time in Yosemite last week.
Besides his architectural work and his drafting, much of Jim's life revolves around hang gliding in Oregon or wherever the air is right.
In the photo to the right, he is gliding near Half Dome.
~~~~ In other news, it was nice to see the Gooby Family Reunion take up the entire width of today's Daily Bee back page. According to the cutline, Pat told the huge gathering to be sure to spend all their inheritance in Sandpoint.
If that bunch complied, Sandpoint's economy surely had a little spike during the week of Aug. 18.
The Gooby's are all good folks, and they've been our family friends since my first memories. That's a long time ago.
So, congrats to the family---especially Bob, Dick, Mary and Pat---for what looked like a wonderful get-together.
~~~~Our football teams sure took a thumping over the past two days. I guess the only good thing to say about four losses for WSU, Idaho, Boise State and Sandpoint is that it was consistent.
And, of course, the likelihood is that it will get better.
~~~~I had a friend---who will remain unnamed---ask me yesterday for suggestions of good places to hunt ghosts around the Sandpoint area.
They even have equipment that reportedly will pick up ghost conversations.
These locations have to be places where they can go during good ghost-hunting hours (that would be midnight onward toward daylight) and places where the law would not come and arrest them for trespassing.
So, any and all suggestions will be encouraged. Having never gone ghost-hunting, I told this person I'd have to do some thinking on that one.
~~~~Not a whole lot else on my mind this lovely first day of September, so I'll not babble. Here's wishing everyone a wonderful day.
