Tuesday Twitterdeedum

I was searching through my limited collection of 2006 photos and found this one for today's 8th anniversary of our move to the Lovestead.  Ironically, the young couple in the photo have just moved to a new home themselves.

Willie and Debbie came up from Boise soon after we moved from Great Northern Road out to Selle and posed for Mom Love next to the tree they had given us the night before their wedding in 2001.

With our move, we brought the blue spruce with us and had transplanted it in the north lawn.

Since those first days out here in Selle, the tree has grown to about 4.5 feet and has had to have its top trimmed due to a disease specific to spruce.

In the background, I can report that the shelter has doubled in size, thanks to the year I had a segment added to it for our three horses.  The original would allow only 2.5 horses to stand under the roof to get out of the rain.

Now that the shelter can hold three horses comfortably, we have but two.

That electric-wire fence has also been replaced with the board fence, which I'm in the process of repainting this summer.

Much has changed in our eight years here at the Lovestead, but not our love for our little piece of Heaven here in Selle.

Gathering from the garden.  We haven't eaten the strawberries just yet because I want to add to them before making up a bunch of ice cream sundaes.

The lettuce, sweet onion and chard, though,  (hail holes and all) made for a lovely summer dinner last night with additional chicken, sweet peppers and cucumbers (all from the store).

I can report, however, that my own sweet peppers are starting to appear on their plants inside the greenhouse.  Marble-sized green nubbins will soon expand into homegrown pepper for the summer salads.

After a summer dinner on a lovely day, an evening bike ride topped off some good memories as Bill and I took off for a spin over to the Colburn ranch where Bill could tell Willie to be ready to go fishing tonight at 6.

Debbie had just gotten home from work.  It was 7:30, so we didn't stay long, just totally enjoyed the views along the way, including spirea in almost full bloom, the brillance of this pasture on Del Bader's place, and the curiosity of its inhabitants.

Peekaboo!  Nasturtiums with their brilliant color have a hard time hiding, and that's good because they enhance just about any garden spot.

As if our dogs needed anything to keep them busy:  when a squirrel comes along, the horses get a rest from constant vigilance.  The pups have spent the better part of the last couple of days looking upward.

This morning we're experiencing a typical summer breeze, where limbs and leaves  get no rest. It's a peaceful and relaxing breeze, but it's not going to be a relaxing day.

I'm planning to load up a horse this morning and go over to my sisters' arena for some riding time.  Then, of course, I'll be watching the clock to make sure I'm back in time for the BIG MATCH between Belgium and the USA.

Should be fun and intense.

I want to congratulate my friends Peter and Kelli who today take ownership of Spuds Restaurant in downtown Sandpoint.

It's a restaurant that has gone from one Peter (Mico) to another (McDaniel). So, I'm guessing the high quality of the food and service will remain the same.

Best of luck to them as they take on this delicious new challenge.

Happy Tuesday to all.  GO USA!
