Power off in the middle of the night. No Internet, just yet anyway. Rain coming down on another three or four
inches of overnight snow. Good ol’
roaring just outside as huge masses of that snow slide off the roof. We definitely have a warmup.
I think we’re making up for any lost moisture, and I’m
thinking this snow stuff might be a memory by late afternoon. Let Mother Nature do her work. In the meantime, we’ve got another morning
of cleaning up in order to get the basic chores done.
I’m waiting for Bill to clear out some main paths before
going to the barn for my shoveling session, and as I wait, four blue lights are
starting to show up on my router.
The blue-light special means I might have functioning Internet.
Later on Sunday morning:
We’ve had another power outage, but since writing those first few
paragraphs, we’ve managed to get a good portion of last night’s deposit moved,
making the way for opening barn doors and the gate to the barnyard and have the
option to move cars from the driveway.
The snow was extremely messy but relatively easy to
move. That was nice.
I was thinking while working in the barn how much farm folks
love the sound of snow sliding off from roofs.
Well, it was moving at breakneck speed this morning, and often.
The only glitch I encountered from that was shoving out in
front of and behind the gate to the barnyard where a slide had packed about
four feet of snow to shovel.
Now, as I type, the familiar sound of blasts to clear avalanche danger up at Schweitzer
is coming rather frequently, but we’re inside, horses are outside eating their
breakfast, and it looks like the worst is over, for today anyway.
Yesterday morning was so different as it was crisp, foggy
and beautiful, but by afternoon, in the middle of that fabulous Zags game,
stuff started coming from above.
It kept up as we went to town to watch two more basketball
games. Coaches Ward and Love’s girls
varsity pulled off one of their major victories, coming from a 12 point half
time deficit to defeating Moscow by 6.
Over at the old high school gym, it didn’t go so well for
the JV B team, but they played hard.
That game was Laura’s last home game, so, of course, we snapped a
photo. Plus, Debbie in the stands
provided a nice informal portrait opportunity.
Today we have the big Seahawks game, and we must admit that
we don’t do the “uniforms” for Seahawks like we do the ZAGS, but my friends
Rick and Janet do. They’re pretty mild
compared to some members of the 12-Man team, but I loved the photo, so had to
post.
Annie has found that this is a weekend where she can’t
accomplish everything she’d like. Last
year, she attended this same play-off event in Seattle. This year she’ll be on a flight from
Minneapolis where she spent the weekend----under cover for a while.
She surprised her friend Miriam at a baby shower yesterday,
and apparently the big surprise went well.
Anyway, she’ll miss most of the Seahawks game, so 12-Man
will have to yell a little louder, I guess.
I want the Seahawks to win, but, as indicated yesterday, if Green Bay
wins, that’s okay too.
So, it should be
a great Sunday afternoon, and by that time, maybe a lot of snow will melt.
Go Seahawks! Go Snow!

Annie is lucky to have missed the first of the game. Hope she was home in time for the ending!
We weren't dressed in all the "garb" today, but certainly will be for the Superbowl.
Janet
Her plane was late leaving Minneapolis, so she got to watch the exciting ending. She bought a big bag of skittles and munched on them while watching.
