Wednesday and Willie

Some photos just beg to be taken while we're driving past.  This was screaming out at me yesterday morning while I was headed to my sisters' house.

It's just up the road from us on the left, and it's part of  my 10th-grade geometry teacher Eva Whitehead's farm. I drive by the field several times a week and always love it, but yesterday's combination of clouds, Schweitzer snow, and standing water in the foreground created a must-capture scene.

Sadly some of the trees in that field fell victims to last summer's wind storms but not the beauty of the field where deer and elk hang out regularly.

I went for a bike ride after dinner last night and was glad to have my cell phone along to snap a few photos of the Filipowski's Hereford babies.

Most were hanging out with their moms, but this one seemed almost too interested in the disk and harrow.

Eventually the little one moved off and joined the herd.

I think the calf in the foreground is pretty young in comparison to the other calves in Filipowski's herd of Polled Herefords.  Doesn't matter the age, all baby Herefords are as cute as they can be.

I took a couple of other photos along my way, but the bald eagle standing out in the field to my right was a bit too far away for my little phone camera.

It was the second bald eagle I'd seen yesterday moseying around on the ground, which, in my experience, is quite a rarity.

Which do you like best----the house or the "Big Man" standing on its porch?  I don't have to take time to decide.

I LOVE the Big Man standing on the porch and have loved him for 38 years, as of today.

I even awakened this morning about the time he was born April 1, 1977.  That was about 4:30 a.m.

He's definitely a Labor of Love in my life and among his family and many friends.

Willie came along with us on our family outing Monday, which did include a stop at the Bread Basket Bakery where they also sell items crafted from wood, including chairs, trellises, flower boxes, a two-story PIRATE SHIP play house and this structure of great whimsy.

Only about $3,500 if you're looking for a storybook playhouse for your child who has everything.

Anyway, Happy Birthday to Willie and happy Wednesday to all. Hope nobody plays any foolish tricks on you today.
