All in a Saturday's Fun

Tasty ice cream twice in one day, time spent with a classmate atop an excavator, three hours on and off the couch watching the Derby, meeting new friends, reconnections with old friends and some good ol' Love family bonding.

Yup, we did the Love family bonding at a new hangout on First Avenue.  I think it's called Panhandle Coffee and Cones.  Bill, Willie, Debbie, Annie and I topped off a busy day with ice cream in homemade cones at the establishment which has been established for just over a month.

There's a cowbell collection on the wall and patrons are encouraged to ring the bells.

Owner Jason moved to Sandpoint from Grants Pass, Ore., but he's lived in numerous other places.  He and Bill exchanged "Luzianna talk," with Jason claiming that his wife was "Yankee" cuz she hailed from Shreveport up north.  That was okay with Bill cuz much of his family comes from Shreveport.

Also, at the parlor, I enjoyed a nice visit with Delaina Hawkins who was out and about with her friend on a moonlight bike ride.  She's a lovely young lady whom I've enjoyed knowing since she was in my sister's class at Farmin-Stidwell.

Our other ice cream treat came straight from the milk cartons and old fashioned equipment at Moose Valley Farms yesterday.  The official milk-carton technician told me they brought 30 half gallons of milk which would yield twice that amount in ice cream.

Judging from yesterday's wonderful weather, I'm sure they would have no leftovers, as cars continued to stream into the large parking lot for a festive, carnival-like experience.

Mary and her family put on a great day for their customers, including a blood drive, oodles of craft booths, free cake, free hotdogs and, of course, that ice cream.  Oh yeah, they sell a lot of potted plants too.

Bill and Annie showed up for a while and then headed to the Wyman Game Preserve for geocaching.  In the meantime, Willie and Debbie were enjoying a walk down Center Valley Road with Todd and Brooke.

Annie's geocaching event at Second Avenue Pizza was well attended, and I would predict that the food inspired some new fans of the already popular restaurant.

Twas just about a perfect Saturday.  The horse I chose did not win the Derby, but I'll be pulling for American Pharoah in the next two races.  Maybe this year, we'll have a Triple Crown winner.

Happy Sunday.
