First big family news this morning: the SHS Lady Bulldogs basketball team nabbed their first win in St. Maries last night.
Because of injuries, the squad has gotten off to a slow start this year, but they've improved dramatically in their first few games. Once everyone is healed, it should be an exciting year.
I'm thinking the bus trip back from St. Maries had to have been a lot easier than expected with that big win. Congratulations, to Coach Ward, Coach Love and the Lady Bulldogs.
Speaking of Bulldogs, the ZAGS have another game tonight at 6 p.m. PST on KHQ/Root.
They'll be taking on San Antonio's University of Incarnate Word Cardinals for the first time on the basketball court.
GO, ZAGS!
In other news, we had some snow overnight. This light layer was much more welcome than the total winter blast we endured at the beginning of the month.
Much better behaved snow in my mind. It came, it left its mark and it moved on, leaving us with a spectacular morning of crisp air and blue skies.
No complaining, especially because I'm pretty much done with the pre-winter projects.
Not exactly by choice. Yes, it's hard to rake any more leaves with the snow, but especially hard when the rake breaks right off from its handle.
Yesterday also involved some serious focus on cutting back some of my oregano plots. I was just about finished with one prolific stand when the handles on the scissors I was using for snipping broke.
So, I'm guess that's it for 2017. I'll wait 'till spring to buy a new rake and will go back to using my tempermental shears for the oregano.
It was a pretty productive day inside the house too, as the first batch of Christmas cookies came out of the oven and into the freezer bags.
All in all, not a bad day, and today looks like a real winner.
Enjoy the photos, including a few taken by Annie. Even naked trees provide some photographic opportunities when the sun is out and skies are blue.
Happy Wednesday.
From Down Under with Annie Love . . . .
About the time Annie decides to head home from New Zealand in a few days, other family members will be on their way to the Southern Hemisphere.
My brother Mike and his wife Mary are taking a two-week cruise around the tip of South America, starting in Buenos Aires and ending in Valparaiso, Chile.
Glad these travelers like to post pictures cuz it's fun seeing all these wonderful places pretty much for free.
Annie and Kelsi have a couple of days left on their New Zealand adventure and their extended summer.
They've kayaked, they've visited a glacier, they've been to the "middlest" of Middle Earth (geographic center point of New Zealand) and they have even been to Eichardt's South in Queenstown, New Zealand on the South Isle.
What an adventure!
When Annie gets back to Auckland on the North Isle, it's possible she'll be visiting with some "outlaws," through which we're connected, thanks to Mike and Mary's family.
Oh, the worldly webs we weave !
