Super Bowl 52 is in the books. A lot of leftovers are stuffed wherever there was space in the refrigerator and the cupboards.
Annie Love has left the house with Dad Love.
By 10 a.m., she will be touching down in Seattle to head to the Groundspeak, Inc. office to join in on the Monday-after-the-Super Bowl water-cooler conversations.
Meanwhile, Mom Love is a happy camper this morning because warm breezes overnight melted off a significant amount of snow and ice.
Once again, walking beyond the lane is quickly becoming a welcome option.
No frozen ridges. No ice.
A lot less deep snow and very few obstructions to get in the way of walking a straight line and even walking like I'm 20 years younger.
A great feeling, indeed.
We had a laid back but fun Super Bowl party yesterday.
We paced ourselves while stuffing our mouths with fat, tasty chicken wings from Costco, Willie chili, Second Avenue pizza, deviled eggs, chips, dip, crackers, cheese, veggies, fruit, cookies, candies and the grand finale: Swiss Mousse prepared by Swiss Miss.
I'm pretty sure our eating fest stretched from 3 p.m. to nearly 8 p.m., so we were kind to our stomachs.
And, with the usual interest in watching and judging this year's commercials, folks didn't jump up nearly as often during breaks in the game.
I think we all agreed that the spoof on "Dirty Dancing" was the best.
I also think Eli Manning and Odell Beckham need to keep adding new segments to that story line OR possibly show up as contestants (a pair, of course) on the next version of "Dancing with the Stars."
While preparing items for the food spread, I took in several segments in the pre-game show and found them more enjoyable than in past years.
NBC did it up big, and it's looking like NBC is gonna continue to do it up big for the next several weeks with the Winter Olympics coming up.
Put all that TV programming together, along with ZAGS games and a week's worth of warm February weather, and I think we'll be on our way to spring.
As I said to Bill this morning, we've done more than our share of penance.
I also want to share one story about the game itself. As mentioned yesterday, I did not have strong alliances toward either team, but when I went outside just after the first Philadelphia score and saw a bald eagle soaring over the place, I figured that was an omen.
Sure enough, the Eagles soared in Minneapolis in one of the best Super Bowl games I can remember in a long time-----another reason we have a lot of food left over. The game action was as intense as the commercials.
All in all, a great weekend with Annie home, watching Swiss Miss watch her first-ever Super Bowl and just plain enjoying family time.
So, it's a new week, and I'm thinking about sowing some more seeds for spring and enjoying even more unobstructed walking. Kinda fun feeling like I'm 50 again.
Happy Monday.
Oh, one more item: Annie took a short video clip of CB playing soccer and sent it via Twitter to Seattle Sounders goalie Stefan Frei.
Her message: Watch out
Stefan Frei responded with a "like."
