Bill told me he was going fishing at Mirror Lake yesterday afternoon. I told him I might show up to take a few pictures but left it open.
He told me he'd probably have the pontoon boat down at the end of the lake. So, we agreed that if we saw each other, okay; if not, that would be okay too.
Turned out we did not see each other, but I did visit with the Mirror Lake overseer.
My trip to the lake where a portion of the movie Dante's Peak was filmed took me past my longtime friend Garry Bristow's house. Garry and his wife Susan raise and sell veggies and flowers.
Plus, Garry is Sagle's answer to Marianne Love in the "extreme lawn mowing" program.
At one time, we even joked that if we'd keep on extending our mowing program along the ditches in our respective neighborhoods, maybe we'd eventually meet on the Long Bridge.
We both like to keep a neat lawn, and so when I went past Garry's house and saw him sitting on his mower, my heart felt good.
Having finished my first mowing of the year and seeing Garry on his favorite perch, I'd say all is copacetic for this spring 2018.
Keep on mowing, Garry!
I hope you enjoy the photos. It was a lovely drive to Sagle and along East Dufort and South Sagle Roads.
Lovin' spring! Happy Thursday.
It's always a proud moment to read of the success of any youngster we've watched grow up and follow their dreams. This morning was especially joyful when I saw the headline that Ryan Knowles is coming home to Sandpoint to serve as Sandpoint High head football coach. The Knowles family lived across Boyer from my folks. John Knowles, one of my colleagues, and Ryan's dad, built our new house after our fire in 1984. Willie Love and Kellie Knowles were born the same year, as were Ryan Knowles and Annie Love. And, Willie's best friend in first grade, along with the Wilund boys, who also lived in the neighborhood would join in on the fun at birthday parties and such. So, for Willie Love, now known by colleagues as Will, and Ryan Knowles, who's coached at Colgate University for several years, will once again be spending time together as head girls basketball coach and head football coach, respectively. A wonderful new milestone in the cycle of life, to say the least. http://www.bonnercountydailybee.com/regional_sports/20180426/knowles_named_new_shs_fb_coach |
Flowers in the north lawn are starting their spring show.

We went out to Camp Stidwell at Mirror Lake every year for a family reunion all the way up until my parents died. I SO loved that place!
:) Glad it brought back some nice memories, Emily! Hope all is well with you.
