May the Third Be With You

This is my Thursday Throwback photo today.  Hardly sunflower time, but I couldn't stop looking at it, so I figured it was begging to be featured today.

We do have sun this morning, so we really don't need a reminder that the sun does shine in North Idaho, but it is fun to think about times later this summer when such sights will enhance the beauty of the summer.

I learned yesterday that I'm one of the farm animals living here at the Lovestead.

After all, humans are animals too, and since Nadia, pictured above, told me I'm a farm animal, I'll proudly accept the designation.

Nadia, complete with her colorful hat, came to visit yesterday after her kindergarten class.  Her Grandma Chris brought her.

Nadia also brought "Nadia 1," her doll, so named because Nadia 1 was born before Nadia 2. Nadia 1 stayed in her doll carrier next to the car while Nadia 2 and Grandma Chris walked over to the barn to meet the horses.

When Nadia saw Lily, she asked, "Why is she wearing that?"  Instead of a colorful hat, Lily was wearing a fly mask.

So, I explained that the flies drive horses crazy, especially around the eyes, whenever the sun is shining and it's hot outside, hence, the need for fly masks.

After petting Lefty who was standing in a stall, Nadia and her grandmother stepped outside, so I could bring CB out to meet them.

It turned out to be a lovely meeting, with Nadia exclaiming that she LOVES CB.  She brushed him a bit and petted him a lot. CB enjoyed it all.

We eventually went to the deck, and while Chris and I visited, Nadia got acquainted with some more farm animals, the dogs.

The dogs were in their glory as Nadia and Bill played Chuck-it with them in the front yard.

Twas a short visit, by Chris and my standards.  After all, we're accustomed to taking entire day trips to catch up on our lives-----one time even to Banff and Lake Louise and back.

I think that was at least a 600-mile day, and we never stopped talking from about 6 a.m. to 11:30 p.m.

So, yesterday could be considered a teaser for upcoming visits when Chris and Nadia want to come and see the Lovestead farm animals.  At least one of them likes to talk a lot.

It was a lovely day yesterday AND productive in other ways, including the planting of the spud crop for 2018.  I planted them in the rich black dirt next to the barn, so we oughta have a good crop this year.

Not much else to report unless I want to talk about the shady, stormy-related stuff associated with he who must not be named.

I wonder if he's gonna lead a prayer today, possibly about "revelations."

Maybe he should.

Here at the Lovestead, this old farm animal will give thanks to God once more for the beauty and the loveliness of May and for the wonderful grass roots folks in this country who really make the nation tick.  Thank God!

Happy Thursday.
