I just saw on Facebook this morning the perfect answer for enhancing my mowing program here at the Lovestead.
Love Canal could use some touching up, but I don't want to be a victim of "Death by Lawnmower."
Often, as I take my zero-turn Husqyvarna along both sides of the canal, running from our yard into the Kauble's pond next door, I yearn for a way to spruce up the slopes along the enhanced ditch.
Well, I learned that a remote-controlled mower, designed for cutting grass up and down and along hills, is on the market. This could have been around for a long time, but today's post was a first for me.
It's called the Amazing Spider Mini, and you can click on this link to see it in action while listening to catchy background music: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fpJOeKwv1hw
Mother's Day is coming up.
Maybe the same kid who decided a couple of years ago that I needed the Squatty Potty pooping stool (hmm, icky play on words there!) could go for something a bit more useful for her mom.
Are ya reading this, Annie?
This particular gift could serve as a Mother's Day, birthday and Christmas present----for the next 30 years or however long I'm still out there reigning as the Lovestead lawn mowing queen.
Actually, I'm betting the Squatty Potty was really a better buy, even if it's sitting out in the shop, to be used only as a foot stool.
Anyway, foot stools can be discussed much easier in polite conversation than poop stools.
After watching the You Tube video, I looked at the testimonials for the Amazing Spider Mini, and learned from Brandonish that it's actually a bit spendy.
Brandonish sez: I checked on the price and the Mini 22" is over $ 11,000.00 The 32" is over $ 29,000.00 The 48 1/2" is over $ 39,000.00 This is way, way, way over my Budget for a lawn mower.
Thank you for your research, Brandonish. 'Nough said.
Love Canal will have to continue its scraggly look, and Annie need not worry about Mother's Day breaking her bank!
This topic of remote-control lawnmowers attracted my interest after spending several hours yesterday on mowing No. 4 for 2018 on the Lovestead lawn.
Unlike earlier mowings, this session took a bit longer than usual cuz that grass and those dandelions are growing with dynamite speed. Hence, I made lots more extra rounds to mulch up the clippings.
It takes a lot of self discipline to stick with the project so many times during the lawn season, but it's always worth the effort.
My ultimate reward for sitting on that mower for so long comes in two ways.
First, the potential beauty unfolds with each round and when that last swath of grass goes down, the scene is just something to behold.
We have a huge lawn, and when it's cleaned up after a marathon session of mowing, it's a thing of beauty.
The satisfaction from four-five hours of making the rounds, enjoying the beauty outside the lawn or watching the horses grazing in their pasture or doggies playing with their balls is unparalleled.
Also, with this year's sessions, within seconds when I touch the "off" switch for the mower, Liam and Foster trot over to the mower, step up on the front foot deck and greet me as if they haven't seen me in years.
Nothing beats that sense of joy. A job well done, and the dogs highly approve.
Lots of rounds lie ahead for this spring and summer, and with those, lots of sweat and dirt and need for patience, knowing it's gonna take four-five hours each time no matter what.
Along with that, however, come those rewards mentioned above. And, if I never get a $39,000 remote controlled hill climbing wonder, that will be okay.
Even without the ability to mow those slopes, I love my lawn mowing and especially love admiring my lawn after it's mown!
Happy Wednesday. Enjoy the photos, which include some sights along our road, Colburn-Culver, Selle and in the Grouse and Gold Creek areas.
Oh yeah, the rose sitting on my island opened in lovely fashion yesterday.

ever wondered if a smaller lawn would work? would free up some time.
and get that squatty potty back to the room it belongs in. some day you will be glad you heeded the advice on the box. :)
I have been mowing in short spurts. Too many interruptions coupled with the gnats. But, as you do, I also love to stand on the deck and view the beauty of a lawn well mowed. It is especially beautiful in the spring when it is a greener green than a summer lawn, even a well watered one.
