Kickback Day

Can someone tell me the name of this flower.  It was in my wildflower mix.

Comes a time to kick back, hang loose and act like a retiree for a day or two.

Finally!

After one of the busiest months on record since I retired 16 years ago, yesterday presented that opportunity.

And, I took advantage.

I called and enjoyed a nice visit with my friend Helen.  I ran some errands.  I looked at posies out behind the barn and in the garden.

I took an evening walk down the road, calmly pursuing a doe who had appeared under our apple tree.

There was no need to cook dinner.  We have enough leftovers to last a couple of days' worth of meals.

I checked on kittens, hung out with dogs and caught up on the national governmental circus, complete with its freak show, on TV.

Glad to know it's all "fake news," cuz if those reporters were really telling us the truth, we'd be in for a heap of trouble.

Heck, we may even have to pitch in to "Make America Great Again."

Keep that news a-coming cuz knowing it's all fake helps me rest easy.

By golly, yesterday they even were telling us that Trump is going to Ireland.

When Bill heard that fake news, he assured me that the liars spewing the news also said he would not be going at the same time we are.

Whew!

Yup, we're starting the countdown to climbing aboard and flying on that Aer Lingus jet out of Seattle nonstop to Dublin.

Once we arrive, Bill will be doing the driving this time, so we're anticipating a learning curve as we take those curves on the wrong side of the road while sitting on the wrong side of the car.

Some "Hail Mary's" and a rosary may be in order, but I think Bill will do okay.  We'll be going back to places we've visited and loved on past trips and doing some exploring of places yet to be seen.

Hard to go wrong in magical Ireland, especially knowing its beautiful people are usually more than eager to help out whenever or wherever help is needed.

Plus, we're both excited to see Ireland in the fall.

So, after a kickback day or two, we'll start getting serious about all fulfilling the plans necessary for being gone and for going to another of the most beautiful places on Earth.

In the meantime, there's a horse show coming up, and Terra's will be giving her first-ever open show a try---riding Lefty in six classes.

So, when she has time after school, she'll be coming over here and to my sisters' place to practice.

Barbara is preparing her Dusty for the same show, and Laurie's getting geared up to take her flashy pinto Pache to the Arabian Sport Horse Nationals in Nampa.

Lots of horse stuff going on during the next two weeks, so that will make our Ireland countdown go that much faster.

In the meantime, it's fun having a relative slowdown from the past few weeks of constant activity.

Happy Wednesday.

Late bloomer.

I was surprised to see this lupine next to Love Canal last night. Its friends did their blooming in May and June.

Maybe we're going to have another summer!

Ireland from the Space Station

Another deer and the apple tree saga.

Turns out this deer lady found better pickings over next door at the Meserve Preserve.
