This classy roadside stand along Colburn-Culver Road north of Selle continues to flourish as October winds down.
Millions of leaves of many colors are still hanging on to provide us a grand finale.
A short-lived rainstorm in the morning was followed by yet another glorious afternoon of warmth, blue sky, clouds and sun.
They call it "lagniappe" in some circles where ya get a little bonus to add to whatever item you happen to buy, e.g. a 13th donut to add to the standard dozen.
Well, we are receiving lovely lagniappe, indeed, with this year's autumn.
And, we'll take it.
I did see a stand of naked aspen yesterday, but happily they are still the exception to the rule.
Could be after tomorrow's rain, that trend will flipflop.
Whatever the case, we've been lucky weatherwise, and we, don't take it for granted.
Many of us will definitely not be looking for any lagniappe when winter takes over.
In other news, we enjoyed warm showers this morning. Our plumber, Mitch, gave us exemplary service in removing our old tank and replacing it with a brand spanking new model.
Since we've been at this place for 12 years, I'm figuring we have an epidemic of appliance breakdowns ahead.
It's a toss-up between the kitchen range and the refrigerator. Mike, the applance doctor, told us he wasn't gonna fix the refrigerator anymore, so to plan to buy a new one.
Mitch, the plumber, told me yesterday that when we do buy appliances to select the basic models without all the frills cuz they last longer. Seems like wise advice cuz we're also not paying as much.
Since I don't have to hang around the house for fix-it men today, I'm taking a quick pilgrimage into Spokane to pick up my ZAGS posters.
It was looking doubtful that I could get the usual amount for my peeps because of some folks taking a lagniappe approach to taking posters and even trying to sell them.
After explaining myself and the pure joy this project brings to the recipients, the powers-that-be relented and told me to come ahead and pick up my posters.
So, in the next few days, those folks will have their schedule and be ready for another exciting season of ZAG basketball.
Yay!
Happy Thursday. GO, ZAGS!
Enjoy the photos.
