First, it was going to be a sleigh ride.
When the only sleigh ride slot available happened to be on Super Sunday, the plan grew.
Thanks to planning between Debbie and Janice (from Western Pleasure Guest Ranch) our Super Sunday turned out to be absolutely superb.
Actually, from what I've heard later, we probably had more fun than most who spent their entire afternoon watching the game.
Well, we watched most of the game but enjoyed a lot of extracurriculars at the ranch.
That would include some of us snowshoeing at the same place where the day before about 50 people had shown up for a highly competitive snow shoe race, which included impressive prizes crafted by one of Janice's neighbors.
We did have to leave the game behind (3-3) at the time to go on an evening sleigh ride through the snowy, magical woods surrounding the lodge, buildings and corrals.
Our driver Roley (Janice's hubby) kept a lively conversation going for the 45-minute trip as the team of Shires plodded along the trail and sleigh bells jingled.
After thanking the team and Roley, we returned to the Lodge where the Super Bowl score was still 3-3 in the fourth quarter.
After some visiting and then the report that the Patriots had won 13-3, the group dished up a tasty ranch-style dinner with lemon chicken, beef tenderloin, veggies, salad, rolls and potatoes.
And, what a topper for the grand finale of our new German friend Olivia's visit to America: black forest cake!
Yup, this was a Super Bowl like no other that we had ever experienced. Some viewers indicated that it was "THE WORST SUPER BOWL AND HALFTIME SHOW EVER."
Well, it may have been for some, but we sure enjoyed it, especially all the fun distractions.
Once again, a good time was had by all, and to Olivia who is heading back to Berlin today:
Auf Wiedersehen. Bis wir uns wiedersehen.
sichere Reisen!!
