Endorphins Aplenty

Sunshine on my shoulders makes me happy
Sunshine in my eyes can make me cry
Sunshine on the water looks so lovely
Sunshine almost always makes me high

If only every day could be like yesterday, we would not have to plan our itinerary to Heaven.

We're already there.

To love virtually every minute of a day, those are days we must mark on the calendar.

Yesterday, for me, was such a day.

I'm realistic enough to know that not everyone could make such a claim on any given day.

Monday, April 29, 2019, will go down as one of those near perfect days of bliss, of accomplishment, of opportunity for creativity, of interaction with special friends, of little or no sense of stress, of feeling the great fortune to live the life I love, etc.

Any or many of the above do happen on pretty much every day, but when you get to enjoy the mother lode all day long, that's pretty special.

I think my horses may agree with me, especially because yesterday marked their first official day of grazing in a pasture.

Neither stayed very long AND they went down the lane to Pasture No. 2 AFTER finishing their breakfast flakes.

While they grabbed big clumps of grass with their teeth, with some help from Bill, I hooked up the harrow to the 4-wheeler and dragged the barnyard.

Usually I do that when Bill's not around, so I felt the need to warn him that "I go fast."

Speed can be pretty necessary when all those huge clumps of the winter mud mixture offer a challenge.

Turned out yesterday was the perfect day to drag the barnyard.  One big area of somewhat soggy mud had dried just enough to slow down the 4-wheeler but not to stop it.

It's patches like that which definitely call for "gunning it" and saying a silent prayer that you'll get to the other side.

Barnyard done, along with other morning chores, and it was time to head to town for some more potting soil to top off my stand-up garden planters.

I also had some photos to take, and, along with that run, came an unexpected visit with a former student Kalika and a favorite server at MickDuffs.  I hadn't seen Erin in a while and was stunned to learn that she and her hubby had moved to Hood River.

So, we did a little catching up, including telling Erin that Kalika's mom had landscaped the Lovestead long before we moved here.  Then, we headed our separate ways.

Back home with the potting soil meant horses came back to the barnyard with full tummies and a need for nap time.

While I topped off planters, Bill cleaned the interior of the Subaru and his Ford Ranger.

I also spent some time visiting with Miss Sunny.  She still hasn't been granted the opportunity to strike out from her new barn home, but she's now happily settled in the tack room, having found four favorite places to sleep.

I took two other trips during this most beautiful spring day when warmed up from freezing in the morning to downright comfortable in the afternoon.

One trip took me to Wood's Hay and Grain for a sack of oats.  Those horses don't get much, but they like their nibble both morning and night.

After dinner, I topped off the day with another photo run which provided another visiting opportunity with Terri Albertson and her granddaughter Maddie.

Seems the Albertson cows got out.  For a family who called me on several occasions to tell me my horses were out (NOT), the Albertson clan spends a lot of time chasing down cows.

Terri said the crew rounded them up, and that she helped open the gate.  Pretty darned impressive for an almost 80-year-old.

After working with my pictures, I went to bed, knowing that sweet dreams were coming cuz it sure had been a nice day.

And, yes, sunshine does make me cry cuz it's SO LOVELY, and it definitely does make us all high.

Best drug above the Earth!

Happy Tuesday.
