I was wearing a rain coat.
Bill was not.
We both got really wet.
Earlier in the day, I had brush-hogged the small hay field next to the lane.
The job was finished just in time for the first major rain storm of the day.
Fortunately, this storm began with a lot of mild spitting of raindrops, allowing me to get to the house before getting wet.
Later, in the afternoon long after the morning rain storm had quit, I took off once again to brush hog horseback riding and walking trails around the woods.
Something told me to take my rain coat.
By the time I'd started cutting a swath across the big hay field where the horses graze, I was thinking the raincoat could have been left behind.
A pleasant temperature and cloudy sky suggested that the rain coat might be a bit uncomfortable.
Later, I was glad to have that coat and its hood.
As I was finishing up on some trails in the woods and headed back to the far pasture to widen the hay field swath, the skies opened.
This time, no spit but almost immediately drenching raindrops were bouncing off the tractor.
I had to get off to open a gate, drive through and then close the gate. From that point on, it was a wet, wet drive across the field as relentless rain soaked all my clothes except those protected by the rain coat.
Upon reaching the house, Bill yelled from the bed room that he had gotten wet. I had no idea that he had fired up the 4-wheeler with plans to do some work in the woods.
"I almost caught up with you," he said, adding that he didn't take a coat.
That's how fast the downpour suddenly appeared, with Mother Nature surely fooling both of us.
The afternoon rain lasted significantly longer, but once it stopped, Bill came out of the bedroom dressed in fishing clothes.
He was headed to Cocolalla Creek for his evening passion.
Later, after munching down some dinner and watching some evening news, I decided a trip south of the bridge might be nice for picture-taking, so off I went.
Twas still pretty cloudy, but the rain had passed.
Eventually, the sun reappeared, creating some brilliantly beautiful evening light.
So, yesterday's raindrops and its sunshine kept us changing routine frequently.
All in all, though, it was a productive day cuz we've got trails and the dogs have a big open play area where all that tall grass along the lane once stood.
The sights along the way, here in Selle and in the Sagle area, were pretty nice too.
Enjoy!
