Tuesday Assorteds . . . .

I saw the first raspberry of thousands ripening yesterday.

It made me tired.

The berry is still pretty pink, but I still thought that adding raspberry picking to this busy, busy holiday week was gonna be challenging.

We're hosting a barbecue on the Fourth of July.  I'm kinda viewing the upcoming family-and-friend gathering as the highlight of our summer deck action.

Besides the holiday aspect, the barbecue will feature one of many good byes to Emma, Senior.

For this week only, we'll refer to her as "Senior" because another Emma will be part of our July 4 festivities.

That's Emma, Junior, who is 6.

She and her parents have been visiting with Willie and Debbie over the Fourth of July pretty much ever since she was born.

I'm told that Emma, Junior will bring her pink cowboy boots with intentions to ride horses this week.

Two years ago, when asked if she wanted to ride a horse, she emphatically said no---not until she was 6.

And, by golly, that little lady has held firm on that claim.

Emma, Senior leaves Saturday to return to Berlin and to her family.

Like all of the exchange students, she's been engaged in many a good bye for the past couple of weeks.

Our good bye party, though lasting just a few hours, will feature a major food fest.

So, it's been busy, checking off and gathering one item at a time for the menu and actually preparing some dishes in advance.

We'll top off the meats, salads, corn, garlic bread, kabobs, appetizers, etc. with Hickey Farms strawberries in sundae form or short cake.

Last night I baked some banana pound cakes for any shortcake lovers.

Along with the festivities this week, Terra has been coming to work with Lefty.

With the 4-H horse show is coming up in three weeks, I'm expecting to see a lot of her from now on.

Yesterday she groomed, lunged and rode her pal, and, as usual, they got along just fine.

It's really gratifying to simply hang out this year while Terra catches her horse and does all the basics completely on her own.

She's come a long way in her horsemanship skills in the past couple of years.

I witnessed something pretty neat the other day when Terra came in the driveway with her mom.

Lefty was standing in the barnyard by himself.  When Terra got out of the car, he looked over her way and nickered at her.

He definitely knows and loves his special peep.

Guess that's all for now.  Back to attending to all the assorteds associated with this week.

In the midst of it all, I'm still finding time to smell the roses and enjoy our beloveds.

Happy Tuesday.

Also, my friend Connie has published another blog post.  If you've been to Trinity Restaurant on some Friday's, maybe you've seen her performing with her musical group.

Check out this latest post from beautiful Hope, Idaho.
