Illustrious the pale reflection on the
new moon in the western sky!
Illustrious whatever I see, or hear, or touch, to the last.
from "Song at Sunset," Walt Whitman
To-night the west o'er-brims with warmest dyes;
Its chalice overflows
With pools of purple colouring the skies,
Aflood with gold and rose;
And some hot soul seems throbbing close to mine,
As sinks the sun within that world of wine.

November, you have started off extremely well.
What a glorious first day!
It would be okay with me (and maybe a few others) if you would continue this trend clear to the end.
Crisp, cold, clear weather with consistent sunshine from dawn 'til dark----it doesn't get any better than that, especially for those of us still tidying up for winter.
My day yesterday included some raking, some bagging up of leaf wind rows and some brush hogging in one of the pastures, some of it with help from Liam who sees Husqvarna lawnmowers through Liam's eyes: orange sheep.
Anyway, it's always amazing how much better the pastures, and the whole place look after a trim----just like people.
Twas a busy day throughout with grocery shopping, a quick visit to a friend, vacuuming, baking and dusting and general organizing.
As usual, all this busYness was leading toward a few nice something's to top off the day.
In yesterday's case, there was THE GAME, the loaded baked potatoes at my sisters' home AND the arrival of Annie for her weekend in Sandpoint.
It's pretty much a celebratory weekend with plans for a big Saturday night dinner, celebrating both Annie and Debbie.
Debbie's birthday is tomorrow.
Annie's was two weeks ago, but she was in Massachusetts chasing whales, witches and geocaches with her friend Miriam.
So, we've been planning for a few weeks this big party tonight for two of the Young Love's.
As usual, Annie has a full plate of activities planned for her short stay, including some geocaching adventures.
Looks like perfect weather for anything outdoors.
Once again, I'm feeling grateful, as I think of the weighty issues that continue to persist with any week---loss of friends, never-ending and disgusting political turmoil at all levels, frequent reminders of others not so fortunate.
I've enjoyed oodles of wonderful moments this week, thanks to Mother Nature, knowledgeable people, good friends and family.
As always, each day is a gift, and when they're glorious from start to finish like yesterday's ushering in of November, the gifts are extra special.
Happy Saturday.
