Flower Farm Color Splash

I could feel a definite momentum uptick yesterday as the first of a string of warmer spring days for this week provided the opportunity to point myself a variety of directions with spring "things to do." 

For the past few days, Bill has been constructing a section of woven-wire fence on the south border of our place. 

 A portion of his time each day is spent walking back and forth between the fence project and the shop to get stuff, always escorted by three dogs. 

Our dogs are so excited to be going to work as a team with one of their best friends.

Bill's project has happily kept Liam away from the barnyard fence and the horses, which is especially important now because of my painting projects, which include the fence. 

Part of my Monday involved some touch-up painting on our deck-area planters.

There's more to touch up when I have some more red barn paint, but they already look 100 percent better. 

Knowing that we're entering the time frame where cold winter nights may be a thing of the past, I decided it was time to take my first trip to the Flower Farm at the east end of Selle Road.  

I donned my mask, checked to see that I had enough wipes and headed to the nursery to purchase a few pansy pots. 

Turns out there's a new face behind the counter, and even more notable, she and her husband have purchased the Flower Farm from Dennis and Cindy.

Former Florida residents Pam and John Carlin relocated in Sandpoint where Pam, University of Florida horticulture grad, wants to live out her dream of running a nursery. 

I really enjoyed my brief visit with Pam, who expressed appreciation that longtime Flower Farm owners Dennis and Cindy will stick around through the season to mentor her as she gets acquainted with the business. 

In the fall, Dennis and Cindy will be living where they can enjoy their grandchildren. 

And, so a new chapter begins for those of us who love the Flower Farm and for its new owners.

Thanks, Cindy and Dennis for all the joy you've inspired with your floral talents. 

At this time of year, I love seeing the promise of summer-months by touring green houses where many floral pots have gotten a head start on their color shows. 

So, of course, I snapped a few photos before picking out some pansies and a couple of pots of rosemary. 

Today the pansies will find their summer homes in various places around the garden and the deck. 

The happiness and beauty of spring begins.
