Out and About on a Pretty Day

Foster and I took a trip to town yesterday.

I wanted to see the new look on First Avenue where, a few days ago, the streets were paved.

Before driving through town, we parked at the pier and went for a short walk.

Folks were out and about, fishing, boating, walking and just plain enjoying the beautiful day.

Downtown, I saw our friend Mike, who had a box lunch as he crossed the street.

Mike told me he was doing his part to help the economy.

Anyway, the trip to town was a pleasant break from yard and garden work on a lovely afternoon.

Foster had a good time too. Lots of great sniffing!

It's a day of vivid memories for so many of us------of where we were and what we were doing 40 years ago today.

We all have our stories about the Mt. St. Helens Eruption, but our late cousin Doug Miller's  photo from his house in Ephrata, Wash., that afternoon later appeared on the cover of National Geographic.

So, today, we not only remember the Mt. St. Helens eruption and its aftermath but also the man who captured the amazing image above.
