This morning, Bill's been monitoring the hurricane in Louisiana.
After all, it blew through his college town of Lake Charles overnight.
We're hoping it's not as bad as predicted.
Bill reminded me how less than a year ago, we survived a hurricane. It took me a second or two to remember.
Oh, yeah, that hurricane that was supposed to hit the coast of Ireland. We were all prepared to hunker down and then suddenly we were sitting on a ferry headed to the Aran Island.
The fury of the storm was much exaggerated, and we ended up spending a beautiful afternoon on the island.
One never knows the whims of weather, though, so it's best to be prepared and make fun of the weather forecasters later.
I understand we're supposed to get some high winds on Saturday that could be devastating with the dry conditions.
Fingers crossed that they blow on by without inflicting any damage.
In other news, my sisters have kayaks. It's truly been a kayak year for the family, and we are glad.
We're looking forward to some family paddling over the next few weeks.
Also, this morning Annie is home----this time on vacation.
Little Foster is a happy camper with his mom out there in the travel trailer.
Another busy day ahead with some more work to do on my story assignment.
Yesterday I took pictures of a couple of my interviewees, and we had a great time visiting.
I'll do a bit more of that this morning, and who know, we may be out paddling this afternoon.
Happy Thursday. Enjoy the photos and the TBT's.
Thursday Throwbacks . . . .
Once again, I simply scrolled through my photo library and landed on some fun memories. In all cases, they reminded me of how "it used to be," when people didn't mind getting up close and personal and when traveling was part of our national diet.
Hope those times return sometime soon.
These little darlings now have almost a week of University of Idaho studies under their belt. Hope you're not skipping classes, Jade and Grace! |
A few years ago, the Baker Bros., plus Ray's wife Melinda, came and stayed at the Lovestead on their cross-country bike ride . Melinda chose a good book to read while Ray and Bill swapped stories. |
Guess which state capitol this is. Annie, Mother and I did some road tripping in this area several years ago and loved every minute. |
Remember Extreme Home Makeover? Well, we had one in Sandpoint, and my friend Diane, then living in Moscow, came up to see the action with her two daughters. A fun day with good peeps. |
Bill and Sefo hard at work on the board fence for the first pasture. I get to look out my kitchen window and admire the fence, which is now painted white. |
Mother and her first granddaughter with her second son. That's Mother, Maureen and Rory at Roman Nose Lake a few years back. |
On our family outing to Roman Nose Lake a few years ago, we ran into Ed and Becky Hawkins. That's my brother Mike's brother-in-law Jim Thompson on the right. |
Rose Marie, I haven't seen you in a while. Hope you like being a featured "outlaw" on the blog this morning. |
