World Food Day
In light of the
current pandemic this year, the day will be celebrated with the theme -
"Grow, nourish, sustain.
Together.
Our actions are our future."
A good reminder up above.
Maybe today is a good day for donating to your local food bank. Here in the north country, it's going to be a LONG winter.

Bill and I took an afternoon drive yesterday on a road I thought I had never taken.
Eventually, I realized that I had driven that same road several times----just not that particular end of it.
My clue to familiarity: when we reached that unbelievable open view of Lake Pend Oreille.
Not only have I taken the other end of that road (French Road off from Caribou Creek Road in Upper Pack River), but I have also taken pictures of the lake from a spot just up the road from where today's samples were captured.
The nice part about yesterday's slight detour off from Caribou Creek Road: it was all new country for me until we finally reached the spot with that phenomenal lake view, with views of the back side of Schweitzer and amazing views of the open country along the Colburn Creek Road.
We even stopped at an earlier open area featuring a view of Round Top and its friends in the Cabinet Mountains.
As Bill walked through an area below the moss-covered hillside, I snapped a photo of him and my shadow which could, with a little wishful imagination, be construed as his having a close-up and personal encounter with Bigfoot.
Our trip up the east end of French Road turned out to be busy with wood cutters, other "turists" and a pair of hunters with a 4-wheeler in the back of their pickup.
Turns out we knew both of them. Mike and Dan, both hard-working country boys from north of town, were looking for a moose.
While we stood and visited with them, I learned that moose are not all that plentiful these days for a number of reasons, including disease, rough winters, railroad tracks, wolves AND maybe even finding greener, safer pastures in residential Sandpoint.
The few minutes spent standing on that open roadside view visiting and admiring a variety of spectacular views topped off a beautiful, crisp fall day where the color show seems to be intensifying.
I don't think words can ever capture the emotional magnificence of that beautiful lake which so many of us have had the good fortune to know throughout our lives and which brings forth expressions of incredible awe with each and every view.
The drive to and from our viewpoint wasn't bad either.
Finally, the reminder of winter not being far off enhanced our appreciation for getting out there on all the roads with views while we can.
Heck, maybe we'll do it again today.
