Good Morning from Selle Valley, Idaho.
Looking like a beautiful day in the neighborhood.
I spent extra time outside this morning after doing chores because I know this will be the last sunrise I can enjoy at that particular time for a while.
We'll be getting our daylight in the evenings, but morning chores will once again be done in the dark for the next couple of weeks.
It's truly glorious out there this morning with dozens of geese squawking over in Taylor's field, an occasional duck quacking overhead and hundreds of songbirds singing away in treetops around our yard.
Every once in a while I'll hear the owl(s) which have taken up permanent residence over at Meserve's.
Believe me, they don't just talk at night.
The ground is frozen, so walking around, 'cept in the barnyard, is a pleasure. As the sun comes up, though, the residual mud will thaw and things will be messy.
We're all thinking, though, that our mud event for this year may be short-lived because the ground did not freeze much over the winter. Fingers crossed.
In the meantime, what a goodly portion of what mud there is finds its way to the horses' hides
The other night, I brushed each, wearing a mask, which did little or no good and wishing I had worn protective glasses. My eyes were pretty gritty when I returned to the house.
I may have been miserable, but the horses loved their grooming sessions.
Speaking of horses, you'll see a new horse in the neighborhood below.
Boston from down Selle Road has entered the 2021 Mustang challenge, which requires that entrants take a horse from the wild and tame it and train it.
Boston has had Legacy for a couple of weeks now. Legacy came from the wilds of Oregon. He seems to be adjusting rather well for his short time here.
We continue to take baby steps on our way back to normal life. Two sets of Love's enjoyed some good visiting and a meal at Matchwood Brewery last night.
Bill loves the fact that part of the area here in Selle was once known as Matchwood, so much so that last week after picking up our Friday night dinner in town, he texted that he was "leaving Matchwood, headed toward Matchwood with the grub."
Annie learned yesterday that she'll receive her second vaccination next week, which means that pretty much all of our family has been fully vaccinated.
Last month she volunteered for seven hours in Seattle, directing traffic, for the program described above. At the end of the day, she received her first shot.
So, soon, all of us can get together and enjoy each other's company without freezing to death outside. I'm guessing that scenario will be a lot less miserable than some of our family gatherings over the past year.
As miserable as it was at times, we still treasured the opportunities to see each other.
Life continues to improve, and for that we are grateful.
Happy Saturday.

A wee bit of the Irish each day as we move closer to St. Paddy's celebration.

Watch clear through the credits. Pretty cool
