Mud puddles.
Birds talking in the early dawn.
Those were my first delights from outdoors on this warm Sunday morning after at least a dozen hours of much-needed rain.
We've had a cleansing, which could not have come at a better time.
The brilliance of bursting fruit blossoms and rich green grass, along with a kaleidoscope of other spring colors does the soul well.
Plus, a welcome morning surprise greeted me while walking to the paper box and seeing the two rows of cedars that provide us privacy now bright green again instead of the blah ashen color of blankets of dust from the road over the last couple of weeks.
We needed this.
So glad it finally came. Maybe we'll see a blend enjoyable and nourishing weather for the rest of the spring.
If not, we've got problems with dry pastures and poor hay crops and questionable air quality and devastating fires.
For now, all is pleasant on this Sunday morning, which begins another week of busYness, along with welcoming of the month of May.
Appointments, the Derby and sending CB off to school will highlight the week, along with gardening and lawn work. Not much time for couch potatoing, 'cept for Saturday's Derby and tonight's Oscars, that is.
I love watching both, although I simply watch the Oscars rather than the low key but fun production I like to have to go along with the Derby.
Bill and I noted that this year, probably like 90 percent of the world, we haven't seen any of the movies being featured in the Oscars.
Still, it will be fun because it's traditional Americana like the Derby and to see any of the staples we've enjoyed throughout our lives mirroring a sense of normalcy will be nice.
Speaking of May coming up, I'm including a link this morning to a letter about some upcoming elections, which the Daily Bee has chosen to print twice.
Bill and I agree that our friend Tim Cochran's letter was so well written and so important that it earned a reprint.
Hope they repeat it again and again until these upcoming elections are over.
Locals, please read and respond accordingly. I concur with every word our much-respected friend has written. And, I encourage you to pass it on to other voters who may not get the local paper.
We're living in strange, extremist times.
It's definitely time to get back to casting your votes and backing reasonable people who truly care about the entity they represent for these elections.
Thank you, Tim, and thanks in advance for reading Tim's thoughts and doing the right thing as voters.
Don't let your ethical, experienced, moderate and responsible representation on the library, hospital and Northern Lights, Inc. boards slip away, like we've seen so much of in other local elections over the past few years.
I'll shut up so you can read Tim's letter.
Happy Sunday.
