| Willie and Debbie as they make their way toward Iceland's volcano earlier today. |
What a day!Watching the lava flowing in person is one of, if not the coolest, thing I’ve ever seen.
The hike there was crazy and I needed to use the geocaching app to guide me and a couple others to the viewpoint as visibility was low.
I found 46 caches, but my favorite of the day was the one I DNF’d - because it was eaten by a volcano in the last few days!
I got about 10ish minutes of sleep on my redeye flight over here. Then I put nearly 15 miles on my Fitbit with all the geocaching and hiking I did.
Tomorrow will be even better as my brother and his wife will be joining me!

While keeping track of Willie and Debbie's travels from home to Seattle and then on to Iceland yesterday, Bill and I went for an air conditioned adventure of our own.
We drove the Trestle Creek-Lightning Creek loop, getting out occasionally for some short hot strolls along the road and near the streams.
We first saw the 100-degree mark just north of Clark Fork. Then, as my friend Simon, the weather man explained, the temp decreased to the mid-90s along the lake.
He had told me Saturday that anything within three miles of the lake probably would not reach the 100-degree mark.
Simon was right. Almost the instant we were turning off from Colburn-Culver onto Jacobson Road, the temperature again shot up to 100 and remained there all the way home.
Upon arriving home, we learned that Barbara, Laurie and Kevin would join us for dinner at an air conditioned restaurant once they finished their chores and had taken showers.
They left Nampa at 4:30 a.m. yesterday morning, returning from a Regional Arabian show.
Their trip through much of the day, through Eastern Oregon and Washington was a triple-digit affair.
While waiting to meet them, I took the horses to pasture but not before dousing them with the hose. Neither Lily nor Lefty complained.
It seemed very apparent once we reached the restaurant and met with a half-hour wait, many other hungry folks had the same idea of eating in a cool place.
Thus, we also waiting a little longer for our dinner, but that was okay cuz we were sitting and it was much cooler in the restaurant than outside.
And, so it goes with hot and cold. We are thankful for that the Young Love's adventure this week will help distract us from feeling the heat too much.
And, to think today is when the inferno in the Pacific Northwest really begins! Stay cool.
Happy Monday.
