Mojo and More at Schweitzer

I saw a welcome sight on my iphone weather forecast earlier this morning.

Next Monday our highs will dip into the 80s and remain there for four days.

Still no rain in sight, but at this point, even cooler weather will help.

If we can tolerate the next few days, which call for high 90s, maybe we'll be past the worst of this LONG HOT summer.

Last night just after dinner, the usual fan set-up in the living room was not offering much relief from the heat, so we returned to our "get-in-the-pickup-and-go-somewhere" mode.

Let's go up to Schweitzer, I suggested.  So, Bill took the back roads of West Selle and North North Boyer and then up the hill we went.

Once we reached the village, which is lacking its usual esthetics this summer because of hotel construction, etc., we could feel a pleasant difference in the outdoor air.

So, for about half an hour, Bill and I played "turist," leisurely strolling through the area and checking out the sights in a relatively uncrowded evening atmosphere.

We visited with some of the trail-riding horses. Bill pointed out a couple of hornets' nests. I snapped photos of wildflowers and a ground squirrel.  We just generally enjoyed the calm and coolness of it all.

We also met Mojo.

Until they meet us, the Border Collies of the world and their owners are probably unaware that their presence pretty much anywhere will elicit an enthusiastic and loving rise out of Bill and Marianne.

Mojo is visiting the area with his family who reside in Bend, Ore.

Like most Border Collies we know, Mojo was constantly on a mission as we observed his fast-moving activities all around the village.   We also visited with his family members.

We learned that he is actually Border Collie and Aussie, and he came from a ranch in the Bend area.  Twas no surprise to us that Mojo is pretty special to his family.

So much so, that their vacation accommodations required that Mojo get to come too.

The Schweitzer area offers a perfect setting for a vacationing member of the Border Collie nation, as long as he stays out of those horse corrals.

And, Schweitzer Village, even with its piles of dirt and construction barriers, offered us just the break we needed from yesterday's heat.

It was amazingly comfortable up on the mountain and a pleasant distraction from the grind of so many HOT summer days.

Soon, though, Bill and I dropped our "turist" modes, drove home, groaned at the heat and agreed that we had enjoyed a great getaway, even if it lasted less than an hour.

Hope Mojo and his family enjoy their vacation here.

Happy Tuesday.  Stay cool.
