Soft, Steady Rain, the Fair, Ahhh!

Kevin Gunter, your daughter is talented, just in case you hadn't noticed!

~~~~~~~
Once again, the pitter patter on our metal roof this morning sounded divine.
The rain has stopped now, but several percentages of wet stuff should fall for most of the afternoon and evening.
Today's rainfall happily curbs a lot of the inner drama and stress we've all been feeling throughout the long, hot, dry summer AND it opens the way for the always anticipated Bonner County Fair.
The Fair officially opens to the public tomorrow, but yesterday and today are set-up days followed by judging of main-exhibit building entries.
Other livestock events will involve judging in the indoor arena and other outdoor facilities.
I spent some time at the fair yesterday as part of the Emerald Empire Arabian Horse Club.
Club members were putting together their booth, which does a take-off of the main fair theme with the addition of "hoof" added to the "Lettuce, Turnip the Beets" guideline for decorating.
So, there's some disco and and even a little clippedy clop involved with this year's range of booth displays.
Besides decorating booths, folks of all ages were bringing items for judging, including artwork, flowers, photography, flakes of hay, wine, veggie art, canned goods, etc.
Seated at the superintendent tables were some people who always seem so associated with those tables that I wonder if they even go home after the fair or if they just occupy those spots for 365 days so they'll be ready for next year's fair.
Guess I'll compare pictures from some of the same settings next year and see if their clothes are different.
I also saw several new faces wearing superintendents' badges and did some occasional catch-up whenever I saw faces of longtime friends like Susan Bristow and Frankie Roberson.
Frankie told me she'd be turning 89 in a couple of weeks.  She was helping exhibitors enter pieces of art, while Susan has been a staple in the flower department forever, it seems.
My friend Gail seems to make the rounds from the wine table to the veggies.  Hmmm!
We noted that she's two years older than I, which made me feel good cuz I was the definite senior citizen among the Emerald Empire booth decorating crowd.
Fair manager Darcey told me about her crayon project, which she did over the winter, using left over press paper from the Daily Bee and soccer cones.  Pretty neat results, I'd say.
I was wondering after watching the speed at which the two 4-H'ers were coloring if Darcy would have to go get some new coloring art before the fair actually starts.
Looks like it will be a popular place to stop while strolling through the main exhibit hall.
And, the Fair in general should give folks some nice and pleasant distractions from the status quo of Summer, 2021.
Rain?
Bonner County Fair?
Bring 'em on!
Finally, today:  another distraction.  Bill has a kayaking story along with some "nice" photos in today's Daily Bee.
He kinda suggests that the scenes of kayaks on SUV's or in the backs of pickup trucks have become somewhat iconic in our area over the past few years.
Happy Tuesday.
I would be remiss in not mentioning that this is a feature employed by the Emerald Empire Arabian Horse Club to get you to visit some of their online sites----where you can even take tests.
I must also mention that this involves a collaboration of Batch Two in our family.
Sister Barbara came up with the idea to plant QR codes in horse shoes around the booth.
Sister Laurie painted the horse shoes.
Little Brother Jim created the club logo in the middle of the code.
Barbara tells me (cuz I'm a newbie to using these codes) that you just use your iphone and hold the camera over the code until you see yellow corners on the code.
Then,  above your camera window, a website will appear where you can go and learn pertinent stuff about Arabians and Arabian activities.
If I have any of that wrong, I'm sure experienced QR experts will set me straight.
So, do go by the booth and give it a try.
Finally, in the interest of accuracy, I used my editing program to turn the  horse shoe sideways so the horse head in the logo would appear to be normal.
Somebody will have to tell me if cameras need to be held sideways while using this particular QR code.
 😍😍😍
