Last Sunday, our friend and neighbor Nan asked us if we would like carolers from her German Baptist group to come to our house on Sunday, Dec. 19.
Of course, we told her, we would love that.
And, indeed, they came with hymnals and joyous voices and lovely reminders of this season.
Even a baby came along.
She may not have sung, but she added to the overall reminder of Christmas.
Our puppy Bridie, at first visibly shocked by the group of singers, young and old, gathered on the deck, decided they were okay.
So, she lay next to Annie's feet, watching attentively and never wanting to move as the carolers performed.
I stood next to Cody (top photo) who sang proudly and from the heart with the most beautiful soprano voice.
I knew some of the singers and met many for the first time.
Anyone who has patronized Selle Valley Creamery--- not far off from HWY 95 on Selle Road---for its cheeses, hamburger meals or ice cream cones probably has met Brad Miller or members of his family.
To say this happening was AWEsome and meaningful would be an understatement. It was a gift, not wrapped in pretty paper but in beautiful people and families who know and exemplify the meaning of Christmas.
Our contribution: a plate of homemade cookies and some brief thoughts by Bill from the readings of the Fourth Sunday of Advent.
Thank you, Nan, and all the singers.
This gesture, with its season spirit and reminders, truly touched our hearts.
A beautiful and blessed moment in our lives.
Happy Monday to all.
