We often have elk sightings in our neighborhood.
Yesterday, however, marked the first time in nearly 16 years of living here in Selle that I saw elk just across our road in Taylor's field.
I have often said that one of my dreams of living here was to look out our kitchen window and see elk out in our pastures.
Well, that hasn't happened yet, but yesterday's sighting came pretty close to realizing that dream.
It looked, from a distance, that every elk in the small herd had antlers. So, I'm guessing it's a spring thing that the guys hang together before they go chasing women.
Whatever the case, it was a beautiful sight to enjoy.
Who knows maybe this year the herd will come over on our side of the road and help me realize my dream.
Speaking of spring wildlife, when I took Bridie out to do her business just before dark last night, the area around our place was a virtual wildlife zoo with more than 30 Canada geese squawking and sharing the Meserve Preserve with four or five deer.
On the other side of our fields in the woods, turkeys were gobbling nonstop.
It's definitely a neat and noisy time of year.

Annie is home. Dogs are excited, especially Foster.
We're looking forward to a fairly relaxed weekend and spending some outdoor time with local family members, bundled up, of course.
So, Happy Saturday and Happy Easter weekend to all.
