It's a bathroom window shot taken from our upstairs bathroom this morning. I love this scene all seasons of the year. |
Happy Saturday morning from the Lovestead where the squirrels play with the puppy's toys and the geese just can't decide which roof they like best for perching and honking.
This morning, the pair were trying out both the barn and the barnyard shelter and having plenty to say about both.
As an avid lover of mowing lawns, I do get frustrated at times and every year as the roots extending from trees around the yard bulge higher and higher out of the ground.
They just plain get in the way and slow down the process of mowing. So, they're a nuisance with the only alternative being to remove the trees.
Won't have that!
All that said, I'm noticing some beautiful patterns on some of them as they continually expand and rise.
If I can just look at them for the artistic value and forget about the trouble they cause me, all would be well.
This week has been one filled with hope. Each morning has started out with the sun shining and casting lovely shadows and the temperature warming up, only to have clouds, rain, wind and cold show up in the afternoon.
The hope comes after that happens.
Each day I've thought, "Well, tomorrow will be better." Each day we've gotten the same mix. Yesterday I was painting fence and musing to myself about the pleasant springy atmosphere all around me.
I went inside for a short break, leaving the paint bucket and brush. Suddenly and literally, out of the blue came a big dark cloud loaded with rain.
Bridie was tethered to her cable and that paint bucket was still sitting outside. I made a quick run to put Bridie inside and retrieve the paint bucket.
So much for a paint project on a beautiful day gone bad.
Yeah, I know: April showers bring May flowers.
Guess I'll invest my hope in that coming true.
In Ocala, Flor., yesterday, our friend and neighbor Boston took a second place at the Extreme Mustang Makeover competition.
As Boston noted in her Instagram post, things didn't go so well in the "handling and conditioning" class when she ground-tied Cowboy.
Well, Cowboy seemed to know that he really wasn't fastened to anything, so he took off across the arena to visit with some other horses.
Later, however, in the in-hand trail class, the pair breezed through all but one obstacle, and that was enough to put them in second place among 11 entries.
Team Bode also competed in a freestyle class where pretty much anything goes demonstrating a variety of skills. Boston wore a long flowing turquoise gown which matched Cowboy's halter and some decorations on his body.
It was fun to watch them as Cowboy bowed and stood on a pedestal while Boston walked underneath him.
The show has been fun for Boston and her family as well as those in her cheering squad from various places around the country.
Wishing you the best today, Boston.
HOT OFF THE INTERNET FROM OCALA
Boston placed fourth overall in the the Extreme Mustang competition.
CONGRATULATIONS on your amazing achievement.

Today marks the first Farmer's Market for the season in downtown Sandpoint. If it's not raining, I may take some time to stroll through and see this year's offerings.
If I go, I'll probably pick up another flowery bird house to add to the collection around the yard.
Which brings to mind that our swallows have returned. A pair has claimed one of the bird houses in the garden.
Yesterday, when some other birds were hanging out near the house, the swallows swooped in and sent a message about that being their territory.
The other birds left.
And, it's about time for me to leave this computer and embrace this last day of April BEFORE the showers begin.
Happy Saturday.
