A Time to Enjoy; TBT

With no hesitation, I can say that it's a "beautiful day in the neighborhood."

No need for any complaining, just enjoying these lovely days and lovely sights as summer is at its best.

We've had some heat, which for Bill and me, has been somewhat shocking after wearing so many layers to stay warm on our trip to Ireland and Iceland.

I also realized, after sustaining some serious sun burning on my arms Tuesday that I had missed the gradual build-up of sun exposure this year.

And, so, not thinking about it, I mowed some lawn and painted some fence, after which came the itching of that burn.

Sudden and first major exposure to sun in July can be pretty intense.

I'm also astounded at how much green and growing grass we're seeing in mid-July.

Usually, by this time of the year, the grass has lost its luster.  All that moisture from the spring has definitely made a difference in the usual July scenes.

The weather people say we'll have a slight cool-off today, and that will be nice.

I'm also excited today because my longest friend (since age 1) is coming for a visit.

We haven't seen each other in a long, long time, so her visit will be very special.

Again, it's a great day for being alive and for enjoying the true bliss and beauty of summer.

Happy Thursday. Enjoy the TBT's below.

Brush hogging time:

Bill mowed out some trails around the woods this week.

Thursday Throwbacks---Photos of Times Past

The purple cow recipe appeared in the First Year 4-H cooking project book.

I don't remember ever making one, but I know some people who had their unique purple cow experience.

Seen on one of my horseback rides around the neighborhood.

Famous Amos Walkington, builder extraordinaire, working on projects around the place.

These folks were enjoying the bounties of the Northside School garden project.

Lily has taken her share of visitors from other countries for horseback rides.

This was a priest from Africa who wanted to ride a horse.

Some family outlaws!

A long, long time ago.

I consider this photo of my two older brothers and our cow herd at the old North Boyer farm a family classic.

Former SHS principal, now brand new superintendent for Lake Pend Oreille School District 84 Dr. Becky Meyer thought that Willie needed official designation as "Dr. Love" a few years back.

Thanks so much to our friend Elisabeth (left) for watching our beloveds while we were gone.

We appreciate  you very much.
