I found this butterfly yesterday in a water bucket we keep filled for the dogs when they romp around near the machine shed at the end of the lane.
Having no idea if it had landed there on purpose, I left it as is, figuring to check on it the next time I was in that area.
It was still in the bucket later, and I knew the dogs would like to drink.
Figuring it was probably dead, I carefully lifted it from the water and put it on the ground.
A wing fluttered.
Maybe it's still alive, I thought. Soon I saw more movement, so I picked it up from the ground and carefully placed it on a board, figuring it may have an easier time flying off.
This morning, the butterfly was nowhere to be seen, so I'm hoping for the best.
Still, an unexplained mystery but hopefully a happy ending.
Always something interesting about nature happening on a farm.
Today, we are planning our first official summer barbecue.
One was held here over the Fourth of July weekend, but we were not here.
Annie hosted cousins, a friend and my sisters for that meal.
Our barbecuing time has been shortened by our absence on the trip in late June and early July and by the exceedingly hot weather of the past week or so.
Since exceedingly hot weather will return for a few days, starting tomorrow, today seems like a great day for a barbecue.
So, Willie and Debbie, and my sister Barbara will come. Sister Laurie is off at a dressage show in Portland with brother Kevin.
Looking forward to preparing for the feast, which hopefully will include some fresh corn on the cob.
Ahhh, summer.
Seems like this week has been one with posts focused on movies.
Well, here's another.
I included the movie trailer (below) to an upcoming release called The Banshees of Inisherin.
We've been hearing about this movie since last fall when we visited the Aran Island of Inis Mor. While touring the island, the guide pointed out the house where some of the movie was filmed.
Again, on this year's visit, the movie was mentioned, as we listened to islander and our guide Joe Gill talk about the sights and history of Inis Mor.
Yesterday I ran across this trailer, which includes some scenes we've encountered on our visits.
I also asked our friend Mary, who lives on the island, if she'd seen the trailer.
Yes, indeed, and she can't wait until it comes out in October because she "took part in this movie."
Details yet to come from Mary, who's already had her brush with Hollywood as an 8-year-old in "Return of the Islander."
Plus, her grandmother Maggie Dirrane played as lead actress in the classic fictional 1934 documentary "Man of Aran."
Here's more about the upcoming film starring Colin Farrell and Brendan Gleeson.

With all the time we've now spent on the island, we are like Mary----can't wait to see it.
Now, back to real life and a busy Saturday ahead.
Enjoy.
