Saturday Slight

After a gorgeous Thanksgiving Day, we looked at a lot of fog and socked-in gray blah yesterday.

We also looked at our TV off and on through the day. One session involved watching the tail end of the World Cup soccer/futbol match between the United States and England.

The United States coach said he sure would like his team to score a goal.

Still, he seemed fairly satisfied that the match ended in a draw rather than the expected blow-out by the Brits.

On Tuesday, USA will play Iran, which beat Wales.

Wales and the USA team fought to a 1-1 draw in the opening match.

We watched three giants go down in basketball:  No. 1 North Carolina, No. 3 Kansas and No. 6 Gonzaga.

My take on Gonzaga's loss last night:  Gonzaga met Goliath, and it didn't go so well.

It will be interesting to see how Duke does against Purdue and its 7 foot, 4 Goliath who has the athleticism to destroy an opposing team almost single-handedly.

He had a lot of help from the rest of his team also.

No wonder Purdue is 7-O.

I've observed an evolution in my many years as a ZAGS fan.  It used to be in the ZAGS played late at night and lost, I would be unable to sleep because of the disappointment.

I slept very well last night, even knowing they lost.

One learns----at least most diehard fans learn---that wins are always nice, but the best part of ZAG fan-dum is that a loss doesn't mean jumping off the band wagon and giving up on the ZAGS.

They will keep learning and developing as players and as a team, and they'll be back.  They'll also keep entertaining us with their finesse and their exciting style of play.

So, the GO, ZAGS band wagon goes onward at this house.

In other news, when the weather is blah, at least the horses occasionally offer some nice eye candy.

CB was feeling pretty frisky yesterday afternoon.  He couldn't get too much of a rise out of his friends, but that was okay.

Like the Goliath in last night's game, he can still perform without his team, and it's kinda nice to watch.

Liam and Bridie spent a good share of their afternoon doing their form of watching and running the fence line.

Occasionally, Liam takes time out to bring pieces of wood toward the house.  Only problem is he gets distracted by those horses, drops the chunk of wood and goes on to his real job.

Usually by spring, a percentage of Bill's wood piles have been redistributed by Liam out into the fields and along the lane. Rather than clean up his mess, he just goes and gets another chunk of wood.

When winter comes, Liam has another job:  licking.

We've just had enough small patches of ice for him to lick some nice circular depressions to start off the season.

And, the beat for early winter goes on.  Meanwhile, down in the Mediterranean, Annie takes off from Malta today for Rome, where she'll meet some friends and spend a couple of days sight seeing.

So, the pictures will continue. I've included a set below from her travels yesterday, which included some geocaching.

She has also been meeting lots of cats.

Enjoy the photos; stay tuned for Rome.

Happy Saturday.
